A new version of Gimp for AmiCygnix is now available on OS4-depot.

Gimp is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.



This is new in this release:

  • New version 2.6.11 with many improvements.

  • The internal loaders were enhanced and two new formats were added.

  • Some of the Script-Fu scripts are now available as python plug-ins.

  • Compiled with GTK+ 2.24.

  • New version 2.7.2 of the Python package for Gimp python plug-ins.

  • Keyboard layouts that do not conform to ISO-8859-1 standard (eg Polish or Greek keyboards) are now better supported.

  • Dead keys are also supported now. For this the program uses the definitions in the keymap files in "KEYMAPS:".


  • Because of the high amount of data, most of the plug-ins are published in separate packages. Two of them do contain loader and saver plugins. The first one is optional only, because the included picture formats can also be loaded through internal plug-ins. The internal plug-ins are faster.

    Congratulations, you did it again!

    I have some problems with polish chars, again
    When I try to write a text, pressing alt+char does nothing.
    There is a workaround, with use of Leafpad. I write then cut/copy text. Pasting it in Gimp text window does the trick.

    I think due to internal changes new Gimp is much slower (painting/drawing) on my machine. I have decided not to delete the old one.
    Anyway, good to have such a monster on AmigaOS.

    Yes, that's right, sorry. I don't know, why it does not work, I use the same code like in Leafpad.

    Gimp 2.6 is indeed slower. A fast system is recommended.

    Gimp is not a wordprocessor and as I said, there is a workaround, so not a big problem...just to let you know
