The synths/303s and other effects really makes it sound very organic and not the usual "tracker feel" to the music.

One other thing you won't find on older trackers (ProTracker, OctaMED, MilkyTracker, DigBooster 3...) and that IMHO makes all the difference is filters with realtime control of the cutoff frequency and resonance. This really pushes the tracker sound forward, and makes AmigaOS4 an interesting platform for music-making again.

How's the experience of this multi-platform music tracker on an X5000?

It's actually pretty good. Another reason for having an X5000

Forgot to report that mouse selection goes bonkers when used with rowspacing tooltype over 8 pixels.

When pattern position is on line 0 and using rowspacing=12 starts mouse selection on line 13. And with rowspacing=16 mouseselection starts on line 21.

Thanks - I've noticed that too I'll see what I can do and if I can adapt the mouse selection code.

Thanks for your work!
Sounds like great software!

I did a quick test trying various modules on the X1000 and it seems to me that there are no performance problems, neither in fullscreen nor in window mode.
On average I have 30% CPU, rarely reaches 60%.

Can you tell if there is a way to import Protracker and Octamed .mod files?

It definitely imports ProTracker modules (although I'd say the PT import is not as good as in MilkyTracker), but sadly it doesn't import OctaMED modules. OctaMED is a program of its own kind; I don't know of many trackers that can import that format.

It can import Protracker, FastTracker I, DigiBooster v1.x modules up to 16 channels (more formats import could probably be added).

Btw, if you used 'makefile.aos4' to generate the exe without modifying it, i suggest you to do so because it's sub-optimal (like not generating fast code or not using altivec) compare it with the macosx one.

@328gts

Unfortunately, MIDI is not implemented in the OS4 port It's because the program uses RtMidi class, which we don't have. It's my plan to have a look at it, though.

@anyone interested

As for the 303 emulation, you can of course play with it without a MIDI keyboard. In the "303 Units" panel, you'll need to create some bass groove patterns for a specific bank or banks. Then you'll trigger the given groove by specifying the bank (A-D) and pattern (1-8) in a track's Effect Column, for example:

31A1 will trigger pattern 1 in bank A of the first 303 unit
32B3 will trigger pattern 3 in bank B of the second 303 unit

During playback, the individual parameters can be automated using commands, just have a look at the documentation.

There's an example video (which I didn't make but you can download it from my blogsite) to give you an idea.
