Please note that uploading a bunch of pictures on a web space won't automatically create a gallery for you. However you'll be able to share links to this images with anyone.

I don't want a gallery, just have them there so i can download from that site. Was thinking of using wget to dl the images the program needs. If that is possible?

To all the ftp gurus out there

Maybe not fitting in this thread, but i?ll give it a shot anyway.

I?m still looking for a ftp program that can log into the ftp pages of my router (FRITZ!Box 7270) which seems to use some kind of "non" standard login procedure.

I have tried AmiFTP and an older 68k based program (which i can?t remember right now) and the cli based (non-gui) ftp command from AmigaOS4.1.

Funnily enough ONLY the ftp command from C: can log into and use the ftp pages of my router (all others seem to rely on a given username (which the router doesn?t want, it only asks for the password - i *think* it?s using "ANONYMOUS" for the username, but i?m not sure, as typing that in AmiFTP gets me nowhere)

So, can someone please throw me a hint on which other programs i could try (petesftp springs to mind) or what else i could try to make this work? Thank you

Maybe if one of the maintainers of these GUI based FTP programs are listening...i?d gladly work with a beta or debug release to give the needed information to make it work with the router...i?d LOVE to have a working FTP program.

Thanks a lot

EDIT: I just realised this thread is about FTP SERVERS, sorry

Maybe the user name isn't "anonymous" - have you tried e.g. "admin" or whatever you use as a HTTP login name when you configure the router? Just a thought.

Best regards,

Niels

If you don't specify a username the one C:ftp uses is usually the UID 0 one from DEVS:Internet/users, if you didn't change it "root", and it's displayed after the host name ("Name (server:username):") when it asks for it. Try that in the GUI ftp clients.

Yeah, that'd be perfect then. Just upload the photos into the /www or /public_html or whatever directory, and they'll instantly appear at the address of your web space. Simple as that. Depending on the server config, you might also be able to browse them by pointing your web browser at the web space address (i.e. not at one of the individual files). Most web servers will list the files in a folder as links if there's no index file...

I find strange the message you are quoting : "Unknown host" ??? WTH !! Do you manage to use AmiFTP for other things ? Are you sure you are typing correctly the required information ?

Otherwise its working ok, yes (Web based ftp sites)

I need to test some things when i get back to the miggy

I use ftp://fritz.box as address, but maybe i was misleaded all the way?
I maybe need to use ftp.fritzbox instead?

As i said, i can?t test right now, but will keep that in mind for later

Okay I just check the manual of your router and it seems to imply fritz.box should work. Just to be sure typing in a shell :
ping fritz.box

works.
If yes, you are not typing ftp://fritz.box in the host field in AmiFTP are you ? as AmiFTP is only an FTP program you need not to specify the protocol part, here you would only type "fritz.box" as host (i.e. ftp:// is implied)

Thank you, i will try that.
Together with the last hint, i?m sure it will work

Thanks again for all the hints and sorry again for hijacking
