Why not contact those that make the toaster? surely the software isn't precious since it is only useful if one has the hardware?

The software for the video toaster was open sourced ages ago in the hope that someone would remove the hardware dependence, and build upon it. A huge number of people downloaded the code, but I don't know of anyone who has actually done something with it.

Anyway, given that it's open source, he should be able to get a copy no problem.

Ah yes, I remember this coming up quite recently relatively speaking... some of the screen shots remind me of the very early days of late 1989 or early 1990s when I got opalvision 1.0 for the B2000.

I have an opalvision board for a mint condition A4000 in my collection along with a z3 fastlane scsi controller... It was so clean inside I thought the darn thing had rolled off a factory line... I closed it up in its original boxes and never opened it again... Ooops slight detour there
