TuneNet Issues under OS4 final
Not too shy to talk

Hi,

I've just spent a good hour hacking blind and have now managed to fix the Docky issues with TuneNet under OS4 final.

It was an odd experience, I went from a locked docky if I minimised the AmiDock to one where everytime I minimised / maximised the docky I'd get an extra couple of docky displayed!

Anyway, by hook or by crook it's been solved and I'll make a general service release available shortly.

If you have any other specific TuneNet OS4 final issues then please let me know as soon as you can.

Please Note
I'm just interested at the moment in any features that appear broken under OS4 final and that used to work under update 4.

Looking forward to the updated SDK!!

Cheers,
Bean.

Hi,

If it's what I think it is then you've two options:

1/ Install the mpega library from OS4 Depot.

2/ Wait for the service release.

Cheers,
Bean.

I believe I've tracked this down after extensive testing with Memguard.

For anyone that codes, or understands basic maths the problem was part of the line:

sizeof(STRPTR) * modes+1

...which should have been:

sizeof(STRPTR) * (modes+1)

Argh - that's taken me a couple of hours to find, when I was looking at it straight in the face all along! I hate that when it happens!

I'll try and get the service release out tonight :)

Cheers,
Bean.

@Chris,

You have mail :)

@Outcast,

Really! Cool - this service release should be a lot neater than the last release. It's in testing now so should be available soon. I might even be able to persuade Curty to release a new plugin also at the same time :)

Cheers,
Bean.

Installed mpega.library and threads.library.

It starts up, but accepts no user input. Can't even close the window.

Guess I'll have to wait for the service release.

@Orgin,

Probably something to do with the docky. Which I've fixed in the latest version.

Also the to-short-a memory allocation in the previous release doesn't help.

I've got a pretty stable version here, but last night made the mistake in attempting to make my Database class totally thread safe to fix up the occassional "wrong title" issues and the deadlier clear list problems.

I'm now in the depths of task soft-locking mechanisms and Recordset read/write locks..... sigh! ..and before anyone says use PThreads mutex's; the answer is they didn't give the required performance in the current implementation. TuneNet is now almost entirely void of PThreads.

+ I'm back at work, so this'll take a bit longer I'm afraid.

Cheers,
Bean.

P.S. Anyone with loads of issues please download the older version from the TuneNet homepage (www.tunenet.co.uk)!
