Since we don't know what is causing your problem, we can't tell you how to fix it. I am doubtful that a new graphics card would help, but we can't be sure.

1. I asked you a number of questions that may shed some light on what is causing your problem, but you haven't answered them.

2. If your problem affects more than Quake 1 (I don't know since you never answered my question), then it might be a fault with your machine. *IF* that was the case, then you should contact who-ever sold you your machine. But I would suggest you answer my questions before considering that.

3. As an alternative, is there an Amiga club anywhere near you? If someone could see the problem first hand, then maybe they could help.

the only resolution that works is 640X480 ohter games sort of work for eg..

wipeout 2097 (but shadows are squared and then crashes to workbench)

heretic 2 (plays very slow and has chunky graphics)

payback demo (plays very slow cant configure joypad)

The shadows of Wipeout 2097 are square for me too, seems to be due to a problem with the alpha channel (and same problem on the HUD). Also seems a bit crashy sometimes, so not a good test.

I didn't get Heretic 2 to be playable at all, too buggy. Don't both IMHO, at least not on Sam440s.

Payback works OK for me, but only in 68k software mode (which is not fast enough unless use 640x480 or maybe 800x600).

To test the 3D further, without spending money, I suggest:
* Cadog Adventures (free smooth 2D platformer that uses 3D graphics hardware).
* You could also try Cube 1 (free!), not tried it myself but others report this early port works quite well I think.
* Open Arena (a free version of Quake 3), not tried it myself but should be fine I think. Probably a big download though...

Maybe others have some suggestions about free 3D-based games you could use to test your Sam?
