Help loading a Tool on startup 3.x
Just popping in

Hi basically I am creating my ultimate amiga 1200D. I have added classicWb lite which I am finding really useful. I have a rather simple but annoying problem.

I am using a great program provided with classicWb called http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/BBlank its designed to change to border (beyond the overscan) to your background colour. This all works fine and it changes when I double click it.

The only problem is I want this to happen in the start up so I dont have to click it every time. I have tried adding it to Wbstartup and its not running without being clicked. I added it to startup-sequence using C:BBlank and it did not work. I have check the information on the icon and the tooltypes section is blank.

I was wondering if anybody could help me and tell me where I am going wrong as I have not used os 3.1 for years and am very rusty with my knowledge

Welcome

from the readme
Quote:
BBlank is a tiny little program which uses the new GfxBase->BP3Bits field
of graphics.library v39 (Kickstart 3.0) to turn on or off the black border
on AGA (or ECS) machines. Using GfxBase is much cleaner than patching
OpenScreen() and other functions as was needed for Kickstart 2.0, moreover
the program is shorter and doesn't have to stay resident.

The program is a toggle: you run it, and the border goes black; you run it
again, and the border gets back to color 0.

Have you tried run(ning) it from shell?
Maybe it doesn't like to be "run", maybe you need something like WBRun?

It seems to work in shell :D Is there anyway I can make a small shell script that will simply launch it. Sorry I am rather new to the actual OS never bother to learn it properly.

have you try to set it up at the end of user-startup? if it's running from a shell
it may need some os stuff to have been loaded before it.

Hmmm... I vaguely remember using that programme before, years ago... Does it depend on some other programme being run first? Maybe a MagicWB daemon or something? If so, maybe you need to put it in WBStartup with a low priority so it starts last... Failing that, I'm sure patches like MCP have that option as an alternative.
