Just finished installing Debian Lenny on my SAMFlex without the ethernet cable installed. All went well except there is no GUI. Did the install with only 1 cd. Do I need to install with the ethernet cable unplugged and the 8 cd's instead of the 1 cd??

@amigadad Hang on, you installed from one CD only and no internet? Most likely you have only a base install. Try connecting to the net and running Tasksel it should offer you options like desktop environment.

I did a complete install with all 8 cd discs with the ethernet cable disconnected. All went fine, and Debian boot OK, UNTIL I shut it down. When I tried to start it again, I could not get past all the text lines on boot up.
Red text on the screen.
Had no choice but Ctrl D to restart.
I am Sooooo Confused!!

@amigadad You can install lxde to have a faster desktop. Type: apt-get install lxde
