I am playing with Debian 8 + LXDE, all works fine with HD6870. Thanks all for help.
I tried to upgrade Debian to newer version according the smarkusg's advice: Quote:
You need to aim for the day after the release of Buster where the stable packages land into the development version. Buster was released on 6 July 2019 so the date 7 July 2019 would be correct. Add to /etc/apt/sources.list Quote:
With no success: upgrade to Debian 10 Buster: last Spectre660's kernel is 4.9.38 and Debian 10 Buster needs 4.19. upgrade to Debian 9 Stretch: need kernel 4.9 ( so Spectre660's kernel is probably modern enough ), but powerpc repository missing both in snapshot.debian.org and archive.debian.org.
In this post smarkusg used kernel 5.10, which is modern enough to upgrade to Debian 11 Bullseye.
Please, do anybody have this kernel 5.10 for Sam460? Or, do you know where I can contact smarkusg? Or, like the last resort, please, does anyone have a tutorial on how to compile a kernel, more for blondes than in the advice: from smarkusg?
AmigaOS3: Amiga 1200 AmigaOS4: Micro A1-C, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos II, Sam440ep, Sam440ep-flex, AmigaOne X1000 MorphOS: Efika 5200b, Pegasos I, Pegasos II, Powerbook, Mac Mini, iMac, Powermac Quad
I would like to take a look to Linux on my SAM460LE too, and I tried the iso of debian jessie netinstall. I would like to install debian in a bootable ssd card.
The installation holds before to start at this point,
Any suggestion?
To be honest, I would like to try Ubuntu-Mate but as I understood the redepositories are no more available, correct?
Not sure as it was loooong ago I tried linux on my SAM460ex, but only internal video was working, maybe "updated" kernels allows ATI cards (don't know if hd6000 hd5000...) but not "modern" HD/RX models.
