@spotUP I just wrote a simple commandline program for playing .ptk files using the WinAMP plugin as reference. A TuneNet plugin should follow shortly.

@Slayer old modules don't make use of the synths. old mods are based on samples, it's not the amount of channels that make it slow, but all the realtime computing when computing the synth sounds. for mod or xm files, use milkytracker.

I've uploaded the program and source code to OS4Depot and Aminet.Don't think the SAM can handle all channels playing, quite stuttery... but indeed load in any older 4 channel modules and it rocks nicely!
didn't take note of any cpu usage... will try and look again when I tinker some more...
but once into fullscreen with proper pointer active it's another world
very nice...
In real turns how does this compare to whats available for the professional these days? Someone in the family sequences for a real job and works with real artists, should I show them or wait for a real application?
He's recently become quite interested in retro sounds so supplied him with a heap of old Amiga Modules etc...

@salass00 + all Sorry for false report. It was ScreenThumbs which caused that lock up. I have to find out what's wrong in it.

@spotUP
just for comparison, on my 900mhz eee pc the 303 test.ptk tune is using 50-60% cpu time.
so something similiar should probably be possible?
edit: devenirunpoulet.ptk is to cpu hungry for my eee.
the others play fine.
edit2: for those interested, the developer posts status updates on pouet:

@spotUP
I have it compiled and working now:
It's extremely slow at the moment though, because it seems that something is constantly eating up almost all the CPU. I'm looking into this problem right now.

@Kicko Sorry, I have too much going on right now. Finding a job is getting near impossible, it looks like I'll be selling my house soon. Besides, I choose my own projects. You should know that by now Kicko! I know a lot of people want good trackers for the Amiga, I wish you success with this port. LyleHaze
