Great news. Could they possibly also release the formal specs to their SWRT IFF format especially if it's been updated for the latest releases.

I asked Terminills the question; here is his answer :
68K is the official platform for this release. That being said we tried to make sure it was compatible with MorphOS and AmigaOS 4.x

Thank you for that. This reply is not that helpful, because if someone wants to use it mainly on OS4, cannot buy it and then find that it doesn't work properly.

Are you aware of any demo version?

I'm waiting to get bug reports from a couple of users who have both AOS 3.x and 4.x before I confirm nor deny anything.

As for the demo version there will be one at some point.

I was not able to launch it.

It opens a custom screen mode requester, opens a screen briefly and then exists.
If I choose "use Workbench" instead, it opens a window a then closes.

Tried on AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition Update 2 and Update 3

I made sure all prerequisites listed are met. except Ghostscript 10. I tried with and without freetype2.library.

sad.

Thank you everyone for the report.

@terminills

Thank you for coming here and replying to our questions, and for the new version of Final Writer. I hope to see the app work under AmigaOS 4 and being used like the older version. Keep up the good work.

FinalWriter didn't start for me the first time either; it only started after I installed the correct freetype2.library.

I was able to open a text file without any problems, and I wanted to print it as a test.
My printer is an Epson WF-2860 and is also set to "ipp". It also works perfectly with AirPrint under AmigaOS 4.1.
As soon as I enter the printer's IP address and start the search, a GrimReaper appears.
You can ignore it, but then nothing happens. The computer doesn't freeze, and I could continue working, but FinalWriter is completely blocked.
I also noticed that I can only select a single font. Therefore, I wanted to load additional fonts, but FinalWriter also blocks when selecting them.
I will continue testing and report back here.

sorry for google translate.....

Thank you. That file got mine working as well. I haven't tried printing yet, but did notice I can't change the font and keep getting an error that the font isn't supported.

Try to run the program without the JIT emulation. Add the program in the black list, so 99% it will run using the normal 68k emulation

That's interesting!

I had freetype2.libary installed in LIBS: but not in SYS:Libs and the Fonts in FONTS: but not in SYS:Fonts.

FW did not start. Once I moved everything to SYS: FinalWriter starts here too. How comes? I thought additional directories added to the PATH (e.g. ASSIGN LIBS: Work:Extras/Libs ADD) will be searched too automatically.

And what's even weirder, now it works even if I move the freetype2.library to Extras:libs!

Using AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 3 on my MicroA1 system.

FinalWriter 7.3 launches fine now that I have installed freetype2.library package mentioned by others.

Printing to a pdf file seems to work ok, but I have to quit FinalWriter and use AirPrint to print the resulting pdf file.

The ipp printing function does not work for me.

Sometimes quitting FinalWriter works fine.

Sometimes quitting FinalWriter, I get a text window spewing garble, then the window disappears and my system survives.

Sometimes quitting FinalWriter, I get a text window spewing garble, then my system freezes up solid and I have to reboot.

Still experimenting, maybe some tweeking required.

Update...

I have been doing some further testing and found out that I don't actually require freetype2.library or FTManager.

Perhaps FinalWriter 7.3 only required the fonts from the freetype2 package.

Quitting FinalWriter 7.3 still produces the text window and random system lockup, but not every time.
