I'm not sure about fan speed but my r7 250 seems much lauder under AmigaOS than Windows, doing nothing - simply running desctop.

When I'm using r7 240 (passively cooled, two slot passive cooler) , no matter what settings I use card will overheat and shut down - by simply using AmigaOS for about 10 minutes.

Under Windows that card can play video and no issues with overheating.

My conclusion is that clocks of thise gpu don't change (card is not down clocking properly?).

I don't see ANY performance differences between low/high settings.

RX 550 behaves the same. I was super happy with Power Menagment option but I don't think it works well at this point 😔.

Is there any hope to fix issues with v. 5 Radeon HD and 3d functionality on Sam460 with r7 240/7750? Or I need to do something to make it work?

It seems that RadeonRX driver works fine with Rx 550, and 3d related software work fine.

That would be great to be able to use it. I wish there would be driver for AmigaOS4.1 before Windows.

That is I reverted back to R7 240 (I will try to get Linux on it, just for a sake of it). However now nothing 3D related doesn't work under AmigaOS, but with 5.14 driver at least I can use R7 240 and configure system, software etc.

Hopefully next driver update will help with my issue.

Besides that issue I'm quite happy with it. I need to figure out how to.. use euae to set up Workbench 3.2.1 on it 🤔.

Im saying that this GPU would be a good starting point, that would allow computer use. There still would PCIE.

Right now when I want to use rx550 I'm loosing access to the Uboot. If there would be even terrible integrated gpu I wouldn't care about Acube doing updates to Uboot. When Acube will stop doing updates using of new cards will even more difficult, somone can develop driver for it but not be able to update Uboot.

Now i need to keep 5450 in drawer basically forever, I would rather have it integrated on board, and I forgot I think Amiga os4.1 is using what 256Mb vram max "at the moment".

I completely don't care about refurbished /used electronics. Basically every computer I build was with used parts. Good luck finding new sound card in a few years, integrated solutions took over even thus SATA on pci?

Either way, it's it is what it is and considering it was like that for last 25 years it will not change 😏. Not like PPC its not dead.

BTW. I would not care if someone would develop mobo where you can solder used G5 cpu 😏. It would be very Amiga like, we should stick to our traditional ways...

Exactly, less availability of hardware version = less drivers = less issues.

What could be always on the mobo: LAN, SATA, sound card, possibly integrated gpu that could run AmigaOS4.1 with Compositing effects.

Sam460 format would be sufficient to add extra expansions. Now, I have to add what easily could be on board already, and I still payed for it 🤔.

Considering issues owners of AmigaOS have with easy solutions (closed) would be better. It's not like giving me a choice of gpu created any speed improvement, from Radeon 5450 to rx550 speed graphics is basically identical under AmigaOS and as far as 3D can't tell any difference, since Sam460 limitations will cripple any GPU. It could probably have Radeon 9250 and would work similar.

it's all depend on what you want from your device. I just can't see AmigaOS4.1 conquering the world anytime soon 🙄.

I got Sam460 to get AmigaOS4.1 experience. Comparing BlizardaPPC it's like a night and a day. Sam460 vs x5000? Sure x5000 is faster, but what I'm going to use that speed for? Playing 3d games from 2008?

For that i have q9550, 12gb ram, Windows 7, SSD, rx550 etc. and I don't need to pay for it $3k.

Im not saying x5000 is bad or anything, but I was trying to convince myself to get it over Sam460 and I just can't do it. Even PPC Linux is basically done and AmigaOS is light years behind it.

BTW. My Sam460 is very small comparing x5000. Why do I need 7 PCI/PCIE slots? I have my A1200 in full tower, that is plenty for me (and my wife!)

BTW2. and even today I can't use floppies with AmigaOS 4.1! What type of retro computing is that!

I agree that Sam460 price is hight, but I actually can't see that much difference between x5000. What I'm saying that there limitations of x5000 than will resurface little bit later than Sam460. In general x5000 cpus is really not super fast comparing anything new today. That gap between x5000 and Sam460 is really small when you put it in that perspective.

Take Core 2 Quad q9550 it destroys x5000 🙄 and it's OLD cpu.

Is there a way to read Amiga floppies under AmigaOS4.1?

I can confirm that this was an issue:

"In the file System:Kickstart/kicklayout make sure you that have the following line :

MODULE Kickstart/RadeonRX.chip"

For some reason Enchancer 2.2 installer is not adding this line automatically 🙄, after that my rx550 (both actually) work fine.

For now I switched to r7 240, system finally works, Compositing works, so I can set up various things.

Hopefully update Hans mentioned will help with issues I described.

Yes, it's with r7 240. I will try with 250 and 7750, since now at least I can use it 😁. It looks like rx 550 works better at the moment, but I think I settled on r7 240 as more universal. I might try Linux on it.

Ok. So, I disabled Compositing and now system will boot, however when I'm trying to turn on Compositing computer with freeze 😭.

EDIT: I disabled Synchronization with vertical refresh. NOW IT WORKS!

And there is power management and my R7 240 is passively cooled NICE.

EDIT: Not so nice. Candi doesn't work (freeze) and CroMagRally the same, freeze.

Yes, all looks great and it's were it should be.

Rx us working, Sata cable was loose, and I did not see Uboot 🙄... so now I can boot again, just still don't know what is the issue.

Sounds like a dead end for Sam460 performance.

Also, I installed v5.14 driver and now my 7750 and r7 240 will not work. I'm getting and error saying: object not found. System is frozen.

I used installer and driver is installed.

Good that my Rx is working, so I can still fix it. Can someone please help me here 😔.

EDIT: After cold boot, Rx will not show screen at all. Time to do fresh install...

I think it a glitch in AMIStore. When I run Updater it shows there is a 5.14 driver for Sam460 available as an update.

Is lack GART support for Sam460 (whatever that is) limitation of Sam460 or its just not easy to implement for it comparing x1000/5000?

In other words will it ever work for Sam460 for RadeonHD/RX?
