Re: AmigaOne x5000 Thread

@smarkusg

Yeah, the Audio drivers which the developer worked hard on and were sold and/or bundled with systems sold.

The only thing the developer asked for was to respect the license that came with the driver. (which can only be respected)

Since we have many developers around capable of creating drivers for AmigaOS4 and new hardware, losing talented people like Geennaam is not a problem. A job well done!

@broadblues

Not sure if this makes any sense, but since the "new" tankmouse has some sort of wheel support...and there is a 68K driver, would that not be usable?

You could end up with something like this?

Without kernel support for the RX cards i dont think you will even get any output on your monitor... (besides your Bios output at post)

@balaton

The PPC linux kernel(s) do not support the RadeonRX GPU`S at all.
PPC Kernel support stopped somewhere around the HD7950 (SI series). Few newer cards like the R7 250 can use PPC linux using the FBdev driver (so no GL hardware acceleration) Radeon RX support for PPC Linux is just a no go. I would opt for using a Radeon HD regarding the Qemu stuff.

Re: Amiga X5000 and Sound Blaster Audigy FX problem

Wow... this is not good

The only thing @geennaam asked for, was to not use his software for commercial purpose. Since Acube is still advertising and selling the soundblaster on their webshop as being a better upgrade for its own Amiga systems, its clear that they should at least have contacted the developer of the driver since the use is purely commercial.

Those who reflect this back on the developer just dont get it.

The news of @geennaam halting his projects is a devastating blow to the Amiga community. His projects were the single biggest hope for securing the future of our beloved Amiga hardware platform.

It's deeply frustrating to see such potential go untapped due to a short-sighted vision. @geennaam's work could have benefited us all. Hope he will return some day....

As for the driver for the 1570: I'm not sure if I'm going to get anyone in trouble but the HDAudio drivers were on the SD OS installation card I got with the board. They were in WorkSD:Bonus drawer.
They aren't otherwise available publicly.

I would assume that Acube has made the proper agreements with the Audiodriver developer since they are even shipping the software on the bundled SD card. If not, that would be very rude and unprofessional.

The HDA driver situation is interesting. Any further infos on this?

For what i can remember...

A dutch hard and software developer who goes by the name of @geennaam on this forum was not happy with the soundcard choices he had after puchasing his X5000 board. Instead of using 15+ year old cards (SB Live /VIA HT/GT based etc), or the cheap chinese CMIxxx audio cards he was interested in using the Soundblaster Audigy FX. Yes, miracles can happen. He managed to dig into the documentation then develop and release a driver in only a few months of hard work!

His driver was submited to, and released on OS4Depot. He did mention in his readme and/or disclaimer that came with the driver to not just use his software for commercial purposes.

I am not sure but since he pulled back his driver(s) from OS4Depot this could just have happend. So if i am correct and due to using his software for commercial stuff, we all cannot benefit from his driver anymore, and therefor i would like to thank those responsible.

Anyway... this is what i remember, and if wrong, @geennaam will probably correct me after reading this.

Thats odd... these drivers are not available anymore and may not be distributed at all if i recall correct... (unless the dev and Acube made some deal )

I did remember that stuff about the A1222 was said on discord so i did some diggin and found it!

A1222 production has begun nearly 2 months ago, so, we should receive our first stock this month at best, in november at worst,

So.. if i read this correct, in worst case the first stock has arrived in november of last year and production started last year around august somewhere.

Anyway.. in amiga terms it will arrive....SOON

I scaled back from the RX570 to the RX550.
It is smaller, less power consuming (draws its power from the x16 slot) and more than capable of running our 20 year old 3D titles.

@Capehill

I think all is present and loaded.
MiniGL and Warp3D both installed and loaded.. I have been playing around with these SDL settings in the past. Like mentioned before, when i set this 2D Renderer Options to openGL scummvm fails. If i set this to default, its using opengles2.
