@JosDuchIt I stumbled on this thread when I googled "amipdf" in hopes of finding out why I seem to no longer be able to select and save text using AmiPDF, something I made much use of in the past.
Believe it or not, I had never noticed the Save as Postscript and Save as Text menu options.
But it turns out I can't use those either! If I click on either option, I am allowed to save a one-byte file but wasting time trying to open it crashes the machine. Both options are listed as "Amiga^[blank]," so menu clicking is the only option.
From what it says in the thread, it seems I should reasonably expect better results. Any ideas why they are not forthcoming?
If it matters, I am using AmiPDF version 1.37 (09/20/2016) in OS4.1FE on a revamped SAM460ex.

@Raziel I confess I had never even heard of X-Dock until yesterday, but I put one on my Workbench and tried it out a bit, putting a Filer (which works) in it and adding RAMDock.docky and CPUInfo.docky. Those latter items don't seem to do anything. If I click on them in the dock, I am told "This object is a docky. To activate it, just drag it onto a dock." So I pored through this thread with special interest, especially when I encountered the following: Quote: 1) Support the actual dockies, i.e. fancy.docky, time.docky, zzdh's dockies etc. Right now only the icon of the docky is added and shown, but the docky itself is not executed (animated). Is this the same problem, or am I misunderstanding and simply doing something wrong with the dockies? Dimwittedly, I waited until after posting the above before trying one of those in AmiDock, where I see it works as expected, but the question is still valid, I believe

Re: Printing with Amiga

@Chris If I were sure your Raspberry (or whatever) would allow printing properly from the Ubuntu side of my AmigaOne X1000, I would dive right in, so please tell me it would definitely work.
I print with an HP Officejet 6700. It handles printing from Amiga OS4 pretty well, if I am careful enough with Printer Prefs. (Well, for some reason I am no longer able to print what shows on a FinalWriter window, but that's beside the point.)
From Ubuntu (12.04, 16.04, 16.10) I can only print grey scale. Anything with color in it smears like crazy, and black and white will smear too if I don't remember to be sure I haven't unset color printing. If I can settle for black and white, Ubuntu does better than AOS4.1FE. Anything with color in it must be transfered from Ubuntu to Amiga for printing.
Would your solution allow printing my files as PostScript to my non-PS printer and perhaps avoid the smearing?

@ChrisH I have X1kTemp, which always makes it clear when summer is setting in here. (I understand the 55°C that it just complained about in "Core 1" is not really worrisome.) And I don't need a third CPU usage indicater, so I won't take your advice on that.
As for zzd10h's suggestion, I wonder if that means CPUInfo reporting 14% usage is what makes CPUDock claim 100%? Usually (but not at the moment) CPUDock reads well under 100%, but never agrees exactly with CPUInfo, currently "11%." I'm going to keep both for now.
Hmm. Case just reached 40°C and inspired a new warning.

CPUDock vs CPUInfo

After a recent minor AOS 4.1FE glitch, which mainly caused the loss of my CPUInfo Docky, I hunted a replacement copy in my backups, using "Find #?cpu#?" because I didn't remember the exact name.
As you may imagine, "Find #?cpu#?" brings up a lot of hits (184 on my system). Apps:archives/zTools/Data/zTools/Dockies/CPUDock/CPUDock.docky caught my eye, and I assumed it was what I was used to, so I "re-"installed it in my TopDock. I saw immediately that it was not the one I was used to, so I looked again and found the old familiar CPUInfo, which I installed right alongside CPUDock, instead of replacing it.
What intrigues me is that for reasons I cannot fathom, CPUDock almost constantly reports "100%." But sometimes it gives quite reasonable figures, in the same range as CPUInfo, but never the same figures.
No big deal, but I'm curious. Have I done something wrong with CPUDock that prevents it from working right?

@ChrisH
Or maybe I've turned the machine off too soon after stopping Odyssey. It takes a long time for that alert to pop up.
Next time it happens, I'll remember it's "DOS > Processes" I want to check in Ranger. No idea what "Rapier" is.

@LiveForIt I'll try your suggestions. When I posted my problem, I was sure that it happened every time I close Odyssey, but it hasn't happened in the four or five time I've used it since then.

For maybe three or four months now, every time I close Odyssey and don't shut down the computer in the next 10 or 15 seconds, I get this alert wanting me to acknowledge I have closed Odyssey without closing "children."
So far as I can tell, this is a lie. In the past I would get that alert on rare occasions and notice that indeed I had left a PDF or jpeg or something that a click in Odyssey somewhere had produced, and I was perfectly happy to "acknowledge" it. But when I have done no such thing to deserve that rebuke, it is very annoying!
Unique to my system?

@Severin I bet that is what happened, more or less.
Until I ruined my hard drive last summer, I was starting to get adept at DOpus5, but now I have to get back to the manual and start over.

@xenic Thanks for setting me straight.
I just found out that the problem was that the new Odyssey had Tool types: set to CLI for some reason. I erased that and it works as it should.
Now I need to replace that ugly screwdriver icon. I think that should be easy.
By the way, I'll remember henceforth to identify myself as a DOpus5.91 Magellan II user.

Hot key not working right

I trust the fix will be obvious to everyone but me.
I've been using a Dopus5 hotkey, Shift^Ctrl^O, to launch Odyssey. The other day, I replaced the Odyssey I had been using with the latest updated version I found in the "Odyssey 1.23 progress" forum.
Now when I do the hot key, I get an Execute alert asking for arguments. I just Enter/Return, and Odyssey comes up fine, but my Dopus screen gets another alert, "Directory Opus Output," with the content "Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file."
How come?

@kas1e Somehow I had missed all your work until today! How could that be? I wonder if there was one of those wotchamacallits (donation links) when you started, and did I contribute?
Anyway, it is already my Odyssey, with the one I've been using hidden behind a name change, just in case.
I was hoping for a version that didn't have my gmail website warning me that I need to update my browser because they won't be supporting the one I'm using in the future, but I can live with that.
So a very belated thank-you for your tremendous efforts!

@Steady 1956, 1986. Thirty years is a tiny mistake in the millions of years we've been here. Not that big an error in my 80 years either, and I make them pretty regularly now.

I was looking at my fonts just now, wanting to fix a problem involving missing Chinese characters.
I've been using Amigas since 1956, and had many an occasion to look at fonts/ in those years. I can' t understand why I never noticed before that both the _ttf drawer and the TrueType drawer contain only fonts with the .ttf or .TTF suffix! And the "type" column for both has "Ttf." I really thought those drawers contained different kinds of fonts.
So now I also wonder: Why in the world two drawers?

@nbache
Wow! I haven't seen a command line FTP in over 20 years. Of course that was about all they had back then.
First try I couldn't get my name and password in in the allowed 30 seconds, so I copied and pasted the second time.
Then I was left with and FTP> or something like that. It came back to me slowly. "list" didn't work, but "dir" did. I'd probably be able to figure out how to download something; not sure about uploading. But all I wanted to know is that the file names were complete, and they were.
I just tried DOpus 5.91 FTP again. This time I set my address up in the address book instead of doing it on the fly, but same results:
/bd.jp /board1213.tx /burntridgemap.htm /centplayers.jp /favicon.ic /filetype.jp /FRAUHM.gi /frauhm.jp /FRAUHM1509.jp /FRAUHM1509.pd /FRAUHMannouncement.ht
etc.
The server is 1and1.com. I'd be surprised if they are non-standard, but perhaps that is the problem? Well, long as I can get there with pFTP, FileZilla, and command line ftp, I don't care whether they are standard or not.

It looks like ftpmount is Linux only? (I admit I haven't checked OS4Depot as I write this.) I use FileZilla on Ubuntu, and it works fine.

Aha! If the email I just replied to was from you (I guess I had forgotten your non-alias?), I see you dropped two lines from you PDF filetype.
Anyway, thanks again (and again). I obviously can't get along without you.

Double-click problem back

I had this problem a year ago. Severin solved it for me in July 2014, but last month I wiped out the Amiga disk on my X1000 completely and have been working to reinstall everything, with only limited success. Last year I was using DOpus in WBR mode, but since FE appeared I went back to running DOpus and Workbench simultaneously. DOpus worked just the same as it had been, until I killed everything.
My problem was/is that after making a double-click file type for PDF files, clicking on any file viewed as Name brought up AmiPDF and if it wasn't really a PDF file, an error message. (Files viewed as Icon worked as they should.) I have made a PDF FileType again, and again it is trouble. I printed out the FileTypes chapter from DOpus55.pdf and studied it hard, but can't find a hint as to what I did wrong.
Severin sent me a replacement that worked right, along with a bunch of other FileTypes, but I was never clever enough to figure out what was different about it. I had reason to suspect that it wasn't my PDF FileType that was bad after all, but some other FileType in my batch. However, I have currently Stored all the FileTypes except PDF, and it still doesn't work, so my suspicion must have been wrong.
Help!

FTP oddity?

Having finally established contact with my web site for the first time since I totally crashed my OS4.1FE on X1000, I gave in to curiosity about DOpus' FTP.
No trouble getting on my site with it, but all the file names were missing the last letter, making the program unusable. Jpegs were listed as ....jp, PDFs as ....pd, etc. When I took a look at the "built-ins" AmigaScene and AmiNET, file names were complete and I could download them.
No big deal. I am very satisfied with pFTP, but just curious whether anyone has an idea why.
I have now started 12 of the 21 topics in this forum. A bit embarrassing. Perhaps a sign of AD?
