@Raziel

thanx for the consoling words. Well I really hope a lot of people fall in at least a single one of your cathegories.

@K-L

mmh...I'm not so sure anymore if it is helping if we know how much or few we are..whatever..

I really hope new hardware comes our ways..I'm really scared each time I turn on my A1..
the A4000 which I unfortunately sold, still works AFAIK but I shudder at the idea of not having at least one working OS4 machine!!

OS4 is so great, fast and a pleasure to use..!

@Mikey_C

Although I'm not posting much, I visit the site daily even in those sad times.

I really hope you won't shut it down, since I finally started to learn programming and...I don't know what I wanted to say (what a lamer). so ok this it's not a reason at all to keep the site running but, I need this red color to motivate me!

Hey there is OWB, so slowly we are getting a Browser, we have DU, which I still haven't ordered yet (what a lamer part 2), AmigaNetCenter and on and on.
So as I see it there are small lights everywhere and I just paid a visit to the world where people are all flowery and the sun shines from their backsite so don't be depressed..I can...do you...do you smell that?
Breath!!

I asked that question some months ago too.
AFAIR the most answers I got where that PDF is becoming the standard anyway. so what's the point.

Google

I was searching the net for some converter tool namely this

iff to jpg converter

and I was surprised that google gives different results depending on the browser.

On the first page no amigabrower displayed "Aminet - gfx/conv/JP-Guide.lha" as result

How is that possible?

edit:
ok, I puzzled out that typing in that search on the main page of google.com gives back the same result on IBrowse than with IE, Mzilla and Opera while in AWeb there is no difference.

the searchbox has has the following url set up in the IBrowse preferences:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%s

ciao,
Have not tried if the bug above occurs here (will try it out later), but if I may note that with the last but one version the altivec enabled one crashes here. AmigaOne-G4

different platforms need different guis. a "professional" application should use the default gui of the platform it runs on.

so this would be
reaction for os4
mui for mos
whatever for the other platforms.

take a look at pagestream. deron also handles it like that.
currently the os4 version uses mui as a start but later this will change to reaction.

just my 2 cents.

(btw - currently the reaction guis look much better than the mui guis on os4. this may change with mui4 which is not available at the moment)

byebye...

I second that!

@DiscreetFX

I would like it to be reaction since it's the "default" tool kit of OS4, but as you plan aladdin to be more portable there seems to be no option..
what about feelin? is there anyone using it at all or is it a "oh no more toolkits"no-no-thing?

Thanx a lot.
I normally use mason icons on OS4 and yours on #?UAE
now I can say I'm using one of your icons even on OS4 (the owb-masonstyle one)

I think it's better not copy commands, for shure
you forget what you have done when there is an update.

that's true too; I will delete the comands from c: and set it up in cranu.

Cranu is a front end for commandline archivers. Apparently the tar.gz and tar.bz2 support needs the commandline tools from the SDK rather than other versions. He had the wrong ones in his default path, now he doesn't.

exactly.
but what's strange is that the commands were not called properly until I copied them from sdk:c to C: (the wrong tar I
the sdk assign is done on startup and AFAIK the path is set up correctly too.

cranu

I'm having problems packing files with cranu. specifically with the "tar/gzip" and "tar/bzip2" options.

tar and gzip are both in the path, respectively in c: and SDK:c

typing "tar -czf newarc file2arc" in a shell returns

tar: Cannot open a pipe: device not configured

I'm using "GNUtar-1.11.8.lha" and "AmiGNUTar", got them from aminet.
GZip obviously from the SDK but no version information available.
gzip 198738 ----rwed 31-Mar-04 13:39:52

regarding the bzip2 option: the call from the cranu/profiles/tar.bz2.cranu profile is "tar -cjf %a %f" but neither "tar" nor "AMIGnutar" knows the "j" option..

ps.: archiving it manually does not work either, gzip reduces the pdf to 98% of original size, and tar destroys the archive..

any ideas?

thx
