Re: Simplemail and Gmail

@K-L

Impossible de se connecter au serveur pop.gmail.com: Impossible de se connecter au serveur.

Besides account-name and password, my settings are exactly the same as yours. I don't know why it can't connect. I have a yahoo account set up too and it connects and loads my emails without problems.

Maybe there are some problems with SSL on OS 4.1 / Sam?

@Daedalus

unless I'm doing something wrong, no, it's not working with SimpleMail. The settings are as suggested in google mail support

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=12769

no IMAP and no POP3.. how strange is that!?

Tripple checked, "SimpleMail can not connect to the server" but it does work with claw-mail under AmiCygnix..

Has it something to do with SSL?

Re: Share files between OS 4.1 and MacOS X 10.4.11?

@jbni

i guess it has to do something with the Master File Server (or how is it called?). So there has to be a WinPC in the network and you can see the mac with AmigaNetCenter (when is coming an update btw?! and the amiga with your mac.
I managed to share files between the mac and AmigaOne, but now i'm having your same problem with my Sam, it is visible in the network as long as a WinPC is connected but I can't share files... and I can't remember exactly the settings to solve the problem.

I will have a look into it this WE, time permitting..

@thread

slightly OT, but does someone know if it is considered to implement the binary prefix in OS4?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pebi#IEC_standard_prefixes

What do you people think, would it be a good idea to implement them at all? I stumbled over it when I was reading an article about "ZFS"

@Chris

thx for the reply. Good you posted it on the big bugs thread, hopefully some
dveolper read it. Or maybe a beta tester will notice this one and will report to
the mailing list.

edit: can someone please check if it's the same way on OS3.1?

Locale.. feature?

Has anyone noted that OS4.1 ignores the settings in Locale to a certain extent? Selecting english -be it british or "english" english- as the main language in the languages tab of the locale preferences it is simply ignored if a non-english language is in the list too.

I tried out most combinations, english as the first and then irish, or french or whatever, every software and workbench too, is using the second or third language (if I've chosen e.g. english-british_ISO-8859-15 as 1st and english as 2nd) for its localisation.

Yes, the catalog files for workbench are installed and to make sure I copied them over again from the CD.

I also made a fresh install for that purpose being sure I selected..english..

Isn't it supposed to chose the other languages only if the english catalog files are missing?

Any clue? Small improvement for OS 4.1.x?

Examples here:

Preferred languages

english-british_ISO-8859-15
french
irish
german
italian

Workbench is french. Every software is french or irish or german (sequentially if I move it's catalog files)

----------------------------------

english_ISO-8859-15

irish
german
italian

Same as above

P.S. I might already have pointed to this some time back but I can't find any trace of it either here as on AW

@nubechecorre

It would be nice to have it until december..but waiting 1-2 months longer
is ok if the following could be achieved:

0) get rid of the orange alert messages, USB-mouse is stops worikg
1) I'd like to have more stability, My Sam is a bit prone to crashes.
2) USB 2.0 with proper fat32 support.is very important,

My Xerox Phaser 8560 works great, albeit it's not a laser but a solid ink printer. I would hardly go back to laser, this thing has been cheeper, cleaner and more reliable for me.
