Even 1080p will use 11-13% CPU, all the load is on the GPU and if it cannot cope, it won't use the CPU to get some help so the video will stutter.

That is true for Emotion but with DVPlayer it just shows gray where the video should be playing and locks up my whole system with 1080p.

And I want to mention that on regular basis I only get a grey display when trying to load a video (whether with Emotion or DvPlayer) and the system becomes unresponsive as if the whole video ram (above the 256MB) had been used.

I only get this gray screen when I try to play 1080p videos with DVPlayer.
DVPlayer seems to play 720p videos <60fps quite well for me using 10-13%cpu.

I have the same stuttering sound you describe with Emotion on 720p videos.
Hoping for improvements in the future.

I had Mplayer hanging in the middle of videos. Then I changed GUI prefs compositing effects optimization setting from Performance to Video memory usage and now Mplayer have finished the same video twice.

I tried changing from "Performance" to "Video Memory usage" and Mplayer still froze for me. Then I also turned on "Syncronize with vertiacal refresh" and now Mplayer plays videos without freezing.

The question is, am I slowing anything down by using this vertical refresh setting?

FYI: I was having the same problem with Mantis and I had to go through the reset password process before it would let me in, even though I was sure I was using the proper password.

I seem to have run across a bug in the Enhancer 2 Makedir command.
The command throws an error when you include a / at the end of the directory name. This is incompatable with the OS4 Makedir command.

I tied to log a bug report on Mantis but I was unable to login. Amiga.org seems to be down as well so I'm guessing they are still working on the sites.

Anyone else having MPlayer freeze when playing a video with the new RadeonHD V5 driver?

After upgrading to the V5 driver when I play a video with MPlayer it will always eventually freeze and can't be closed. Sometimes it will freeze within about 2 minutes of player but I've also had it play as long as 8 minutes before freezing. The rest of the system seems to work fine. Just MPlayer freezes.

This is using:
MickJT-MPlayer 1.0.1 with the comp_yuv video output.

I've reverted back to v3.7 of the driver and I have no such problems.
Can anyone else duplicate this issue?

How can I get the driver ? I was hoping to pay with PayPal.

See the second paragraph of this news post on AmigaWorld.net for an alternative to purchasing through AmiStore. It worked for me.

Finally got a chance to read the blog. Thanks for writing the blogs. They are enjoyable and informative. Now to get some time to try out the undo feature. Rave will now be my "go to" sound editor.

Try see if can download from AMIStore, can can’t find the driver there, only older drivers.

Earlier today I purchased, downloaded and installed the driver and it's working on my X1000.

Two things to note:

1. After paying and verifiying with the code that you receive on the website as instructed I was able to use "Updater" to download the driver. It wasn't available on AmiStore yet.

2. After installing Enhancer 2.2 a while back I had problems playing videos and had to disable the Sys:libs/VA/RadeonHD_drv_video.library by renaming it. After installing hte RadeonHD V5 driver it didn't work until I remembered to reaname the VA library back to it's original name.

Then 720p videos played with 10-15% CPU using DVPlayer. This is on an X1000 with a RadeonHD 7750 video card. 1080p doesn't work so well.

Bug in YT version 2.4?
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Just tried the latest 2.4 version of YT and it didn't work for me until I made a change.

I get the following error when using:

"Failed to create directory T:YT/ - object not found
Unable to open T:YT/YT-Debug.log"

To fix I changed the following line:
IF ~Exists("T:YT/") THEN ADDRESS COMMAND "MakeDir T:YT/"
to:
IF ~Exists("T:YT") THEN ADDRESS COMMAND "MakeDir T:YT"

Had to take out the / after YT. Then it works great.
Is this just me?

Nice, thanks very much. The undo looks implemented better than expected! Unfortunately I won't be able to try it for a while as I'm taking care of my sick father and won't have access to my X1000.

Alot is not working for me after ES2.2 update, Emotion dead, Spencer dead, Disk Image GUI crashes, Odyssey started acting weird, can't change screenmode properly.

Just checked on my system. X1000 with Radeon HD7750. Spencer works find and Disk Image GUI starts up just fine. The only thing strange about Odyssey screen switching that doesn't work is Window boarder drop down menu has the "Jump Screen" selection disabled. I think this actually happened with the last Hyperion OS update though. I can use the jump screen gadget in the window boarder to jump screens with no problem.

Sounds like you might have something else going on with your system, or the problems only appear on certian configurations.

With respect to the crashes, please backup and delete the file Libs:VA/RadeonHD_drv_video.library
Try again and let me know if this solves the problem.

Thanks for the quick answer. As I said in my very first post:

"If I disable the "RadeonHD_drv_video.library" then videos play just fine."

So, yes, this does fix the issue. I assume from your answer this is a known issue and I will not submit a defect against it.

Thanks for your teams efforts. I perform QA on firmware and software for a large electronics test equipment company, so perhaps I have a little more insight as to the challenges your team is facing. I do appreciate the efforts and quick responses to any issues I do run across.

Unfortunately, with anything complex, they are a fact of life, no matter how much you test. In my line of work, the response to the customer when an issue does arrive is what can keep them satisfied. So far I think AmigaKit is doing a pretty good job of it, as long as you notify them of the issues.

@all
It seems my thread has been hijacked.
I'm not complaining about enhancer. I am one of those that has all the enhancer stuff installed and I am enjoying the benefits. Without the enhancer effort we would not be seeing any progress. Of course it might have been done in a cleaner way but that's been discussed in other threads and given non of us really understands the details of how things fit together, I'm cutting AmigaKit some slack.

Having said that, can we get back on track now?

@imagodespira

Now: Enhancer 2.2 is out, great.
But Software which was working before crashes as the HD Lib for Video is now there... but not the driver ;) So we have many posts to make in forums and also as PM or Email from Emotion customers.

This is at the root of my question. Before installing enhancer 2.2, DVPlayer and Emotion worked fine. After installing enhancer 2.2 these programs quit working. I was just asking if that was expected? Is there anyone who can just answer that question?

I realize that I need to purchase the version 5 driver to get the video playback enhancements and I plan to as soon as there is a download version. I just didn't expect things to "break" without it and was trying to find out if others had the same issue so I could decide to report a bug or not.

For now I have disable the driver and things are back to working as before installing enhancer 2.2, so I'm Ok, but what about the people who don't want to buy version 5? Should they expect that the video players will not work and crash after installing enhancer 2.2?

Enhancer 2.2 Video Playback Problem
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

I have an X1000 with an ASUS Radeon HD card. Since I have installed enhancer 2.2 I have video playback problems with both DVPlayer and Emotion.
When I try to play a video the playback window is gray and I get the following output in a console window that opens up.

"EE radeon_uvd.c:1285 si_common_uvd_create_decoder UVD - Can't init command submission context."

If I disable the "RadeonHD_drv_video.library" then videos play just fine.
The version of the library is 1.11.

I thought that video playback worked right after the enhancer install but I'm not sure.
I was playing with options in Emotion tooltypes and may have enabled the "VAAPIAccel" tool type by accident at one point. This of course won't work but would it cause a problem?

Have other run across this problem?
