I have a black screen but when it happens then the hard disk should load the wb and instead it stops loading..

i have tried 2 different graphic cards, the voodoo 3 3000 and the voodoo 3 2000 and the same problems..

the other pci card don't work with os4 drivers for the dma problem about mediator and os4 drivers..

I don't think that the monitor's icon in devs is wrong setted as the standard installation ( no update ) works fine..

Haven't had time. I'm near graduation and gotta concentrate less on Miggy at this time i'm afraid.

But after all the school sh*t it's testing time !

@all

Solved the problem, now everything is fine and the amiga boot again..

I don' t really know why it didn't booted before..

The only thing that i did is to add/change a 4way ide elbox interface, modifying the kiklayout-A1200 for adding the interface. switch off the computer for about 30 seconds and then switched on again and.. it booted

Before i had a very simple interface that allow you to use only 2 devices on the standard ide interface of the amiga 1200 using a 3.5'' cable instead of the 2.5'' cable.. maybe was that ?

Thanks to everyone for the help and patience

I'd be surprised, since the IDE driver is not part of the kernel itself (and IIRC it wasn't part of the update). It might be, though that there was a slight difference in timing that triggered the four-way detection code of the IDE device.

Anyway, glad to hear it is finally working for you

Strange as I am using the buffered 4 way IDE Elbox interface and haven't had any problems.

Still, who cares as long as it works?

@Rogue

I have just had an email from Elbox to say the upgrade fro the Mediator SX to TX is now available.

Will definitely be upgrading.
Hopefully, I will not need to call upon your help afterwards.

But before of using the 4ide Elbox interface i was using a cable adapter and maybe was that..

But as you said who cared as long as it works

I' ll make a photo to show which adapter is

Spoke too soon regarding the upgrade from SX to TX.
Had some issues with both 3.9 and 4.0.

Elbox have sorted out my 3.9 issues so all is well there.
I have even managed to get Warp3D working again on 3.9 and have been playing Hertic II so all is great in the 3.9 world.

Have lost the use of USB and sound cards under 4.0 with the Elbox drivers.

When using the native OS4 drivers, my machine just continually reboots itself.

It's easy enough to switch back to SX mode and I have 3.9 installed so not a big problem at the min.

Hopefully this is not a big problem and a solution can be found soon.

Not with this little information.

For the records, I have a TX here and it works just fine. Can you give me a bit more information as to what is happening? Can you make a debug log?

Not much to report.
Just tried a fresh installation with nothing else installed other than the Feb update.

Switch the miggy on after a few seconds it reboots and keeps on doing so every few seconds.

Tried booting into AGA mode, worked fine.

Replaced a Voodoo 4500 with a Voodoo 5500, that also worked fine.

So problem solved.

So if Elbox can just sort out my USB and audio card problems, I will be a happy man.

I've got the same problem with the update.
Doesn't boot and both displays are blank.

My system is A1200 PPC603e/68040 64MB MediatorLT4 (Voodoo3, SB128, Ethernet)

My 3.5 HD and CD are connected through a 2.5 to 3.5 DIY cable.

If I understood correctly, you replaced a similar cable with an Elbox IDE interface and it worked for you?

Any ideas, for people who don't own such an interface?

I don't know how to help.. but there is a way to see if something goes wrong during the boot.. use the cd rom and the floppy and try to load the workbench.. once in the workbench edit the kicklayout file and used the kernel.debug instead of the normal kernel, in this way you can see what happens during the boot, then edit the startup-sequence of amiga os 4.0 and write :

SET ECHO ON in the first line of the s-s and

Change the Bootloader line to

C:Bootloader VERBOSE

Tell us what happens..

Ok thanks.

For the time being I boot with the voodoo chip commented.
I'll try the debug later and tell you what happened.

i can add something here, its about the ram settings on the blizzard ppc card.

switching from 70ns to 60ns will give you inproved performance, but to get the very best out of the blizzard ppc card you have to use the free config and turn everything off ie no-precharge and so on.

here everthing is faster than 60ns setting i can play all games with a 800x600 with a prelude soundcard enabled using OS3.9.

the performance you will gain will depend on what oscillator/processor is fitted to the card.

theres a small peformance gain under OS4.0

NOTE: this setting will not work for most if you have say 64Mhz and above as you are going to need 50ns simms iv found a few 50ns simms do not work with this setting.

WARNING: with this setting you must have four chips kept cool,if you fail to cool the four chips you will damage your blizard ppc card.

Which chips need the cooling? If you'd be able to post a picture showing them it'd be nice :)

its the two chips near the Bvision socket, the chip on the far side and one under the phase 5 heatsink.

i use a washer for the one under the heatsink. but you must check that the washer comes into contact with the chip and the heatsink as well as the CPU and heatsink all at the same time.

the best think about it what iv found if the card starts to overheat it give out more of a early warning ie just crash without any damage to the card.

this is one reason i have a higher bus speed than any other Blizzard card out there, but you have to have the right 50ns simm.

some 50ns simms will fail at this speed.

onboard cooling no wires to connect.
very low noise fans.
