Ever wanted to create your own web forum compatible with amiga browsers?
But haven't be able to get there either due to the daunting task of writing your own or not finding any suitable premade forum that doesn't rely heavily on CSS?

Here the solution for you: Snack!

Requirements: webserver, php and mysql.

Main features:
- Forums
- Private user to user messages
- Simple cms system
- News publishing

It's not as modular as big shot forums as phpBB, xoops etc. but if you want an easy to maintain forum+news site with the basic features already set up then this might be something for you.

Enjoy!

(Thanks to klesterjr for the logo :)

NPDS with a specific theme can bring miracles to Amiga Browser.

http://www.amiga-ng.org (french AmigaOS 4 site) is based upon NPDS and has very minor glitches with Ibrowse or Aweb.

But for a little forum, Snack seem ti be ideal.

Thanks for sharing

I dont't care at all, you know.

My goal is that the site is working and that OS4 users can have a french site to gather, not than any validator tells me if it's ok or not.

So, as I said at the beginning: I don't care at all about any kind of validator (Il let this for those who love checking many things a day ).

And try with any other site, you'll see many erros too (check Amigan.net for instance ).

Disclaimer: This is not about which site is better. It's a general html discussion.

Yepp xoops (that amigans net uses) contains a lot of errors too and I wouldn't recommend anyone to use it. Some errors are more important than other however. If the document type isn't exactly right or if there some attribute you're using on a html tag that isn't part of the html standard then thats sort of okey, the page probably renders fine and the clients doesn't have to do lots of guesswork. However your site has a lot of open tags that are never closed and tags that are closed but never open. Such as images, links, tables, fonts, table cells. There's even misspelled tags and out of order tags there. And there's tag attributes in there that are neither quoted nor html encoded which opens for the possibility to plant hostile code into the site. It's just random luck that such a document displays fine in a browser and it's such sites that makes writing html parsers (ie browsers) such a nightmare. Parsing such pages are also slower since the client has to do a lot of guesswork on what the page is trying to do, find out where to insert out of place tags in the document tree and which tags it can safely ignore.
