Captive

Running it via E-UAE on the Mac, everything works great, but for some reason I cannot use a single shop in the game - my droids are on life-support. How on earth do I use the shop in the game I have tried every key on the keyboard! Any help much appreciated.

I haven't played the game, but it sounds like a common problem where you have the joystick port mapped to certain keys on the keyboard, and it overrides keyboard entry.

Change the joystick settings to use the numpad or other keys, or turn it off if you don't need a joystick in that game.

If you are using RunInUAE, then it defaults to mapping the joystick to the cursor keys... but this blocks the cursor keys, which are few games need.

If this is your problem, then you need to tell RunInUAE set the joystick to something else (perhaps the numberpad). Best to only change it for this game, rather than changing the default joystick IMHO.

Make sure you're running under Kickstart 1.3 too, Captive doesn't work well under other versions.

I have joystick port 0 as the mouse which works fine with left and right mouse buttons. Joystick port 1 is set to the numpad and works correctly, but when I left click the shop it doesn't do anything! Yes, I was around when this game was first released I have the correctly A500 settings - going to try and set with 1Mb Ram and see if it makes a blind difference.

Can someone else try and get this working through a UAE? Game downloaded from thegamearchives.com - might try the other 'versions' of the game available on the site as a list ditch attempt.

Edit: Got it working.. downloaded Captive (1990)(Mindscape)[cr CLS][a].adf - a4 just refused to enter shop.
