Thanks! Will it be possible in the future to play shoutcast streams?

 Re: AmigaAmp 3.4 released
Thanks! Sounds great, as usual.

I can't get any of my old skins to work. I tried setting via tooltype and prefs. What format of skins do we need?

@joeled

Shoutcast streams can be accessed through a playlist (.pls).

You need to get your http: address of the stream(s) into a textfile and save it.

Like so:
[playlist]

numberofentries=3

File1
=http://zoo.inlive.co.kr:8080
Title1=Server #1 ((( Blue FM -- Easy Listening Instrumental )))
Length1=-

File2
=File2=http://149.255.33.70:8080
Title2=Server #2 (((( U.S. Server )))
Length2=-1

File3
=http://149.255.33.73:8080
Title3=Server #3 (((( http://bluefm.net/listen.pls )))
Length3=-1

Version
=2

Then simply point AmigaAmp to the .pls and open it, the rest will do the program by itself in a (personal opinion) safer and faster way then other Streamcast players.

I had a similar problem with skins when i tested 3.4.

Leave the tooltypes alone (read: put all tooltypes in () ) and set everything you need in the Prefs program.

AmigaAmp doesn't like to be overridden by tooltypes

Here it works perfect.

Skin Usage:
Rule of thumb: All Skins can be used as long as they come in .wsz packages (so rather all the "old" ones without fancy alpha blending/masking)

Is anybody still using the tooltypes at all? I'm thinking of throwing them all out to avoid confusion.

The 1/16 pitch is _left_ shift and '+'.

I couldn't... ah, AAC playback is for local files. Silly me.

djrikki: You are wrong. I deleted my prefs and the default is #?.(mp3|mp2|ogg|m4a|aiff|flac|wav|pls)

What do you use to write metadata for these?

Tooltypes. Of course you can save settings to tooltypes from a prefs program. That way your settings goes with the executable if one wants to move it from one partition to another. And you don't have to bother with sub directories or the end user trying to remember which ENVARC: the settings were in. With tooltypes you don't need a separate prefs program. Amiga is not Windows. Amiga is unique.

Well there you go, I didn't mess around deleting preferences files, I updated over the existing AmigaAmp install and expected it to just work. I guess this is yet another reason why installation scripts are required for almost any application.

A pleasure

But i think you are mixing the devs here...tomsoniq (Thomas Wenzel) wrote the program, while Colin Wenzel wrote other great stuff

... and your settings can easily get overwritten if you update the program and incidentally replace the icon as well. Happened to me many times, and I consider myself an experienced Amiga user. As you see, there is no "perfect" solution to storing settings, each way has its advantages and disadvantages.

There is no need for the user to remember anything. ENV: and ENVARC: is internal stuff which the AmigaAmp Prefs program hides from the user completely.

There was absolutely no need to delete the settings file! If you look at the System tab in the Prefs, the file pattern is configurable. You could have added the "M4A" there.

 Re: AmigaAmp 3.4 released
Tested that version, all seems nice.

Some idea: what about make a support of tunenet plugins ? That will be pretty handy, because i see how many of them done for tunenet, and that tunenet seems not developed anymore , while amigaamp is. Besides, someone can prefer amigaamp over tunenet too.
