Hi there,

mabye some of you can enlighten me on a subject that is puzzling me for some days now

OS4.1. (53.3)
Copy 52.4 (16.09.2008)

I have an (USB) Device and Volume mounted with Samba (smbfs) plugged into my Fritz.Box router.

Mounted, working well, icon on desktop, write, read, delete, everythings working, but...

1) When i copy files with long comments i get a message telling me

copy "1002.mp3" to fritz.nas:
1002.mp3..copied.
1002.mp3 comment too long.

I never saw this behaviour before so i point the finger at Samba. The file itself is still copied and works well, but the comment is deleted (not that i need it)

2) The problem i have is another one:

German umlauts and other language specific special chars are copied, can be read from OUTSIDE OS4 (i.e. a PC, a WLAN music player) but NOT from i.e. Tunenet.

I can't even access files in drawers called "K?nige" or "D?j? Vu"

Why is that?
I know i was able to access the very same files a few weeks before

I do not have CrossDOS running and do not get any error message while copying.

The funny thing is i can access the files (with broken special chars) through AmiFTP, but it refuses with everything that comes from Workbench (i.e. Information's Drawer size calculator --> it gives wrong sizes because it also can't access those files, still they are there, seen by AmiFTP)

We are in the beginning of a mass extinction.
And all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth.
How dare you!
