I'm not sure for your part of the world. Try the shops on this page. You should be able to find at least one shop in Germany that stocks them; if not, there's always Amazon USA.

So in short what is the best card we can get for the flex (In New Zealand Shops) that I could go out and buy tommorrow and replace my Raedon 128 currently installed?

Thanks Hans

And if I need to donate prior to getting said driver let me know

That depends on whether you want 3D support or not. Right now there are no 3D drivers for Radeon HD cards, so the best fully supported card is still a Radeon 9250.

If you don't mind having no 3D then a Radeon HD 4350 can be bought from an Australian online store (see the page that I linked to above), but it has no 2D acceleration at present, so don't expect high performance.

People with supported cards (Radeon X1300 and higher) can get access to the driver by becoming a beta tester; donations are welcome, but not required.

Hmmm, then I'm wondering why the bother? Apart from the fact that you can use the card as displaying on your monitor... Surely you must be able to use more than 128 Megs graphics memory at least?

That would be something I'd consider...

Thanks for your insight Hans

and understood about the dontations

You should be able to use all graphics mem, although some cards seem to have reduced apertures (e.g., the HIS 4350 has 512 MB, but only 256 MB can be accessed by the CPU), which is rather annoying.

Basically the driver that I'm working on is not ready for general use yet. I still have a Radeon 9000 plugged in for 3D stuff and general use myself. This will change over time as development progresses, but 3D support is still a while off.

Any idea why they made it like that? And what would take advantage of the rest of the memory?

The only reason that I can think of is to prevent a 32-bit machine from running out of addressing space. If someone had 3 GB RAM and this card plugged in, then there would only be 512 MB left for other devices.

The GPU can still access the rest of the space, but the CPU not having access does it hard to use properly. I might be able to use it as fast swap space, but that would require the driver to perform (partial) memory management.
