Graphics Driver and supported VRAM limits?
Quite a regular

Hello everyone,

during the compositing accelerated SDL tests (that are really promising, btw) i noticed the limits of my little sam440ep VRAM. Having only 64 MB of VRAM, this is soon saturated causing various glitches on screen.

How much VRAM memory is supported by the graphics drivers?
Should i buy a pci only graphic card, or should i buy a PCI-E graphic card using a PCI-E to PCI adapter?

What could be the best choice for me?

I know i already asked for some of this question in the past, but a precise indication will be appreciated.

thank you

There is no working PCIe card with 3D availlable for Sam 440ep and ep Flex.

Those HD7XXX cards doesn't .work at all

you have to install a pci card that must be different from the one installed on board. So no 9250PCI Board or it will fail to load the system (compatibility problems).. This is what Massimiliano Tretene told me once a while ago... and another thing, the pci slot on the sam440ep has a 32bit bus instead the onboard chip has a 128bit bus so there will be a huge speed different

@nubechecorre

The M9 should have a 64 bit bus, i guess

no, the onboard chip on Sam440ep has a 128bit Bus.. This is one difference between the standard pci Radeon9250 that Acube sell from the onboard chip. At the moment, at least that you put a Radeon 9250 128bit on a Sam Flex 440, the onboard chip of the Sam440ep mini itx is faster than the standard 9250PCI but has the vram limit to 64Megabyte.. On the other hand if you put a 128bit pci card on a Sam Flex well.. you simply flies...

I bought a 128bit Radeon 9250 to replace my Radeon 9250 64bit.

SDL bench tell that it is actually slower than my previous 64bi Radeon.

Quake is about 15% faster with 128bit than 64bit

Indeed it is faster than the 64bit, try also games and emulators like GNGeo from HunoPPC to see the difference :)
