Screens and other screens settings
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

See User information
ON my SAM i created a screen which i expected to look as the Workbench screen i dis set both as RADEON M9: 1024x768 ARGB32
WB screen with ScreenMode prefs the new screen with Screen Prefs.

As they looked different i noted that in the latter you had options
Palette
- use standards
- custom
- as Workbench

I did use 'standards', but what is this and how can 'custom' be defined?

If you want it to look like workbench then use the "as workbench" option. to us custom you would need to create a 'custom' palette prefs file. run palette prefs and use the save as option in the project menu (ramiga-a) to save the file somewhere (sys:prefs/presets is probably a good place) then in screens prefs load that file as the custom option. you can also do the same for the GUI by saving a custom GUI prefs file.

@Severin Thanks

i tried to change the palette of a publicscreen (initially a <<standard>> one)

Therefor i started ScreenMode from the shel with the PUBSCREEN option.
On saving it did not modify the chosen public screen but the Workbench screen in an ugly way.

I don't find how i can restore the original palette. Which file would
contain it ? (Snoopy seems to refuse to work at dos.library 53.76)

I downloaded the latst snoopy version and the file i did overwrite is
Prefs:sys/palette.prefs

I did ciopy the file from the OS4.1 update CD and it seems to work.

The PUBSCREEN tooltype does not edit a pubscreen palette, it tells the program where to open not what to edit.

You MUST use the 'save as' menu option in the project menu to save the palette file you want to use with another screen. DO NOT save that file in envarc:sys or env:sys or sys:prefs/env-archive/sys

I learned that you best use Screens pref to modify a pubscreen's palette.

Problem was that when launching palette on a pubscreen, it did not show the WBscreen's palette but this pubscreen's one. So usibng the Save button was a 'natural' thing to do. imho some warning might have been well taken.
