Help for Workbench lock utility
Just popping in

Hello

I am trying to write a simple utility that will lock the system with a password.

Currently utility opens a new windows and asks for the right password to quit.

However to make it usable;

Is it possible to disable mouse / keyboard input when the my password entering windows is inactive ?

How can I stop users working on other windows or screen other than the password entering window ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

You can lock the mouse to a window, which ought to stop users doing anything else (check though that you can't click on the window behind when you have windows with rounded corners - you can lock the mouse to a point if you find this is the case)

Alternatively you can soak up all keyboard and mouse events using commodities.library or input.device

I use a program called A-Lock (on Aminet). It'd be good if there was a native PPC version of it, or something very similar.

A-Lock won't run unless you've installed the font it comes with.

Try to get your hands on a dev cd with the RKRM's. Commodities are explained there.

A way to do this could be to create a lock commodity that soaks up all keyboard and mouse click events while the lock window is displayed.
