How do i add a subdockie to Amidock
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

See User information
Hi,
the OS4.1 Update1 Amidock comes with a nice illustration of subdockies, but i can't see how i have toa dd other one's.
- i start adding a 'System' itelm under the Docks list as a standard category
- i can edit it, adding some objects tot it.
Now it is visible somewhere on my screen .

I do observe athat for other subdockies say Players, the 'Maindock' contains
a 'Players' itemtoo, points to the file Sys:Utilities/Dockies/SubDock.docky
ansd to an alternative icon ENV:Sys/def_players_dock

When i hit the 'Add' button i get a file requester but i don't see which file i should choose?

Help much appreciated

Joseph

You should add in your main dock the docky named SubDock (look into SYS:Utilities/Dockies). It will add for you a new icon in the main dock and create a new dock attached to this icon. Now you can rename the button and the dock too (if you want) and add programs in your new created dock.

Thank you very much.

Any idea where the 'non standard' icons used for Internet, Extras, and Players subdockies come from?

They are in envarc:sys

Unfortunately they are the only ones currently available.

I could do with a few more custom sub dock icons too.

Bill beat me to it....

If you need others it can't be that hard to add the docky image to an exiting icon, in imageFX or similar....

It can be very difficult if you have zero artistic talent.

Also though it may be possible to do a simple PNG icon, isn't it much more difficult to produce proper OS4 icons with the alternate image ?

IconEditor seems to be a pile of crap for making icons

Yes that's really sad because previously I was able to produce a sub-standard icon for my own usage using some existing icon and taking parts from elsewhere. Now with IconEditor out of the question it's really difficult, or near impossible (even saving to IFF via RAWBInfo can't help because the resulting file is only garbage

We really need someone to update the system's sketchboard gadget then writing an icon editor won't be too difficult

I have some code I wrote for Wet which converts 32-bit icons into IFF files. I suspect the problem isn't the IFF save, but the IFF loader in whatever program you're trying to load it into (only the ILBM datatype really supports 32-bit IFF ILBM).

My converter can be persuaded to create 24-bit ILBMs if necessary. If this is any help I can make it into a little standalone program?
