It could have been a part of the Extras installer though

Well i'm not really in the position to judge anyway, because i use it every day here and think that it is one of the greatest third party additions for AmigaOS in centuries

Since AmiUpdate isn't (yet) an official part of the OS, what about renaming ENVARC:AppPaths as ENVARC:AmiUpdate? That way it would clear that the contents belong to a specific application and that they can't be freely used by others (f.ex., somebody might be tempted to snoop that directory to find applications).
