This is really strange. Today I changed my work: partition to SFS from FFS2 and since then I seem to have lost about 25 mb of available memory. After my MicroA1 boots it normally has about 213mb available memory but now - only 190mb... What's happening?

Re: Strange memory loss
@Skov Maybe it's the added buffers (in MediaToolBox) for your new partition, iirc FFS doesn't need/use as much buffers as SFS does. (if you haven't add anything else, thats the only thing i can think of right now)

@Raziel
I haven't added anything else at all...
Still, 25mb seems like a lot of memory to lose from a change of file system. Could I reduce the buffers to recovers some memory.
After all, I only have 256mb in all. Perhaps it's time to buy some more...

Re: Strange memory loss
@Skov sure, MediaToolBox, Add/Change Partiton and reduce from 600(?) to 300 for example and see if that makes a difference

@Raziel Well, that didn't do anything... Changing from buffers at 500 to 300... When I changed to SFS I did change the blocksize to 512 instead of 2048... This is really strange...

Re: Strange memory loss
@Skov Blocksize hasn't to do anything with buffers or ram loss With blocksize you set your max possible partition size 512 means (i think) a max size of 2GB well, if that wasn't it...thinking

much slower disk speed you can remove or comment out diskcache.library.kmod in your kicklayout.

@Skov
hehe, ok, maybe it was more than 120GB or so, then
My only advice other than the buffers would be to get the
whole SFS package from
joergs page and see
if you can alter some of the settings (deldir size, buffers
startup etc)
...although i don't really think that would make a difference

@joerg So... Basically... I could use this as a excuse to buy 512 mb instead of my 256... :) And I don't really want to slow the speed, because I changed to sfs BOTH for the speed and the stability...
