Excellent work everyone - a really good presence for the Amiga community. The lakeside tent was a prime spot when you compare to the folks out by H block. Had a great day, though must admit I spent quite a lot of time checking out two of my other great electronic loves: the Bombe and the Colossus. If you think the Amiga has it hard competing with other platforms, think what it's like for them I'll agree with what others have said on another thread, having a presence like that outside the Amiga community is the only real way to gather fresh interest, new and old. There was a fantastic blend of retro-nostalgia and a modern presence that appealed to a wide audience. The iMica, the X1000, the SAM460, all looked superb and hopefully made a strong impression on those who maybe thought the Amiga disappeared with Commodore all those years ago. I haven't had a chance to go through the pics I took yet, but I'll try and extract the ones that aren't me lusting over 40s valve tech and post on this site sometime.

@Mikey_C I'm on for Sunday/tomorrow. Will be there for opening time, especially as I was reading about how busy it was. I'll be wearing my Guru Meditation t-shirt

@Mikey_C Okay, cheers. 12th might be a problem unfortunately I'll have to get back to you, so don't worry about a table for the moment. If I can make it and there aren't any tables left, I can always park myself in a corner

@Mikey_C
I'm not on often, so probably missed the date - when's it on?
Might also have some stuff to sell. I'm having a big clearout before I move and found a stash of old Amiga mags that could do with a good home... if anyone's interested.

@hunk
MySQL is released under the GPL, so it will remain free and open source forever. You can also use a proprietary license as well, but the GPL code will always remain GPL. The name MySQL is, however, trademarked by Sun (or maybe MySQL AB, I think)
There is also the Drizzle fork of the MySQL code, which is also GPL and under active development. Not to mention MariaDB, which is another fork of MySQL that aims to be completely free (as in both beer and speech).
Rest assured MySQL, in one form or another, will continue and under an open source license.

Might pop along for a browse and spend. I don't think I have any Amiga kit I want to part with though.

@MetalJoe Okay, Partition Wizard says not enough memory for DH1. I've changed filesystem from JXF to SFS and it's now been recognised. All good

Right, next question:
Why is DH1 not listed and how do I format it as I've only been given DH0 as an option? I'm guessing SWAP also needs to be formatted?

Rudei, you're a star! That's pointed me in the right direction. Cheers! Using the install CD, I edited the Radeon monitor tooltypes on my installation, rebooted and it's now showing me Workbench with a Congratulations box

@Rudei Cheers! Interestingly, the resolution the monitor says it is displaying for the black screen is 800x600 @ 60Hz, which is not the resolution I set in the installation process (1280x1024). It just dawned on me that it's not showing a "Signal out of range" error. Booting from the install CD, I can use Prefs to set the screen to 1280x1024 ARGB, which is what I want - well, I want higher but it's a good starting point I've been away from the Amiga for too long - feel a bit of a newbie again

OS4.1 Installation Problem

I performed a clean install of OS 4.1 on my AmigaOne yesterday, but have had a few problems. I've just tried again this morning, but same result again.
AmigaOne XE G4 Radeon 7000 HP w2228 monitor U-Boot 1.1.1
My copy of 4.1 doesn't come with the installation guide I've seen others mentioned, but the installation process seemed fairly straightforward.
I've re-partitioned my drive to have a 15 GB SFS/00 partition (DH0:), 20GB JXF partition (DH1:) and a 2 GB swap partition (SWAP:) set up according to the installer instructions. DH0 is bootable, all are automounted. After partitioning I was asked to reboot, which I did.
I was then prompted to format DH0 (DH1 and SWAP are not showing up). After this, the installation to DH0 went fine.
I removed the install CD and rebooted. The normal boot process occurs and I get to the AmigaOS 4.1 logo screen... but then the screen goes black. There's no disk activity at this point, and the screen doesn't change - I left it for half an hour yesterday just in case something was happening very slowly, but nope.
So, what am I missing or have done wrong?
Any help much appreciated.

@Mikey_C Argh! I was ripped off by Alive Mediasoft, back when I was a poor student. Grrr. It was because of them that I discovered a bug in Microdot-II. I accidentally hit "reply all" to an email which was from someone to lots of fellow disgruntled customers... and MD2 went nuts and started sending out hundreds of copies of the email to each person. I pulled the modem out of the phone socket as soon as I realised what was happening. Not a good day.

I've restored my old OS4.0 registration, but can't get my new OS 4.1 registration done - it's saying invalid serial number Other than that, love the new site. It's a massive improvement over the old one. Edit: before anyone asks, I've sent an email to Hyperion. Edit 2: my mail bounced

Boo That's a shame - does seem odd to stop support though. Does no one in SEAL still own an Amiga?
