Re: Timberwolf RC3 available

I only have TW on sfs but re bookmarks, I am a bit puzzled. The readme said the data stuff was changed old bookmarks would not work, start again - well words to that effect. So I left bookmarks as they were to see how they got stuffed and they worked perfectly so I what the consequences of my failure to start again could be, if any.

Among other things:

Page setup in the file menu does not work.

If I highlight text or select all in the edit menu the highlight does not vanish with Crl-C or copy and nothing turns up on the clipboard. However I can 'save page as" so all is not lost though why a downloads window appears, forming verrry slowly, beats me.

Bookmarks do work now and so does import from muiOWB.

They did not until I deleted the timberwolf folder and extracted, as Trevor did, to the harddrive. On the A1-X1000 I also redid the fontconfig so had done two things to confuse the matter. I then went and installed similarly on an A1 XE without redoing the font config and the bookmarks worked as well as import.

Of course there are other things. TW appeared to freeze when I hit preview on this message. I did a soft reboot. TW reopened at the same point less one line so I could continue this message.

I can use the arrow keys on those programs and scroll fast enough so you have a problem. I have no answers but amicygnix can slow down horribly on an A1 when a lot has been, and is, going on elsewhere. Oops - you did say up/ down keys . They do not work.

I have photogenics 4.1 which works on OS 4/4.1 though I only use it in limited ways.

apart from the resize issue with Tabs my chief niggle is lack of a download progress bar or am I missing something.

I developed the same quarrel with OS4.1 when trying to copy via USB a near 4GB file. I did not succeed and had difficulty deciding whether or not to abort, or had it quit?, but that's a separate matter.

@COBRA

No 460 whatever? That seemed beyond reach at the moment to me anyway, but yet another 440EP?, disappointing given that with sufficient delay to make some adaptations, all the carryon at various times about more grunt, caches, PCI express, with a reference board available (ROHS), I would have regarded the AMCC 440SPe as distinctly possible now and preferable to any lesser chip.

Re Zigbee, ACube told me some weeks back they had begun work on support for it.

@Tomcat

I have had to copy massstorage.usbfd v52.2 (Dec 2006)
into the OS4.1 kickstart drawer in order to get my
SD cards working with my Apacer reader.

I have 32MB, 128MB 1 GB, 8 GB SD cards. None worked until I di dthe above.

@TSK

Yes I'm looking keenly at the Flex too. Locally the radeon 9250 PCI cards are 2 to 3 times the price of AGP 9250s. I'm wondering why we do not see PCI-e slots yet.

I also want to know if a driver for the zigbee option has been developed for OS 4.1. I have an A1 but the prospect of being able to monitor remote sensors and operate remote equipment would make for a practical and fun computer.

Tried it too. Just needs to remove the highlight again when the copy function is done. I think I'm going to use the next release seriously if it has an AREXX port and downloading sorted.

I am wondering if the release of google chrome code will enable amiga browsers to get a boost?

OWB doesn't ask for username/password yet, but what may work already is putting them in the URL, i.e. using something like http://username:password@192.168.1.1/

With the appropriate address this opened the modem and unlike ibrowse I was also able to alter fields - I did not attempt this until I had installed OWB 2.6. Thanks, I feel cheerful again.

Noel

PS. Here's the crazy thing. With OWB I can use all the config buttons down the side (Wizard, WAN, LAN, DHCP, DNS, Dynamic DNS). With IBrowse I can use all the buttons across the top (Home, Advanced, Tools, Status, Help). Neither will action the other group. But two halves do not make a whole because the buttons down the side change with each button across the top (I'm told)!

Re: OWB 2.5

There is a page which no Amiga browser will cope with including this one - the page on my new router. I could program my old D-Link router from IBrowse but it died. The new router page can be viewed from IBrowse but cannot be altered. AWeb does not see it at all. OWB, all versions (and Amaya if I remember correctly) will not display the password requester so just throws up a forbidden requester. Is this down to javascript?I have to ask another user to come in with his laptop if a change is needed. Fortunately he can talk to the router via wireless so I do not have to change or add cables.

So my irritations with current Amiga browsers are primarily lack of flash/flex, inadequate java, and now can't change my new wireless router, but OWB does give me CSS - hooray!.

The thing you should be concerned about is if your 9250 has a 64 or 128 bit memory controller.

Most of the cards available here are 128bit. In what way should I be concerned?
