@2crazy Quote: And one last question. Does OS4.1 support widescreen resolutions? It does, but you have to suffer squished pictures until you can alter the tooltypes on the relevant Monitor in DEVS:, as the installer only lists four 4:3 ratio resolutions (is this something for the next version / update ?) my 17" eMachines WXGA is quite happy with the 1280x720@56 Hz mode I gave the Radeon driver.

I've upgraded OWB 2 to version 2.9, only to find it doesnt work on OS4.0, and nor will it!
does anyone have the archive or a linky for OWB 2.8 ? until then, I'm reliant on IBrowse's rather dodgy handling of CSS pages...
Ta !

AmigaOne floppy and OS4

Trying to get a floppy drive working on the AmigaOne under OS4.0 final.
can't find the answer for looking, so I've come here !
I'm fairly sure its connected the right way round: UBoot command fdosls spins the disk and lights the LED, but can't read the volume (a CrossDOS disk). Its plumbed in to the A1's motherboard floppy port, and is a 1.44 MB drive from a PC.
fd0: points to a1floppy, as does pc0:
anyone got theirs working ?

Cheers !
I really must learn to read the instructions that come with these things - I did notice it took rather a long time for an 800MHz processor compiling 4 lines of code !

g++ , not gcc (you have c++ program there)
aha ! so I do need to distinguish - thought it'd sort of work it out for itself. That worked - the glorious world of c++ development awaits

If I compile this: Quote: // Helloworld.cpp #include <iostream> using namespace std;
int main (void) { cout << "Hello world !\n"; return 0; }
using this makefile (which has worked elsewhere - although procedural workbench c): Quote: CFLAGS =
CC = gcc -O4 -g -DINLINE=__inline AR = ar RANLIB = ppc-amigaos-ranlib DEBUGLIB =
all: HelloWorld
#HelloWorld: HelloWorld.o # $(CC) -o HelloWorld HelloWorld.o gcc:lib/libm.a
HelloWorld.o: HelloWorld.cpp $(CC) -c HelloWorld.cpp -o HelloWorld.o
I get these errors: Quote: 5.Development:Development/cpp-projects/Helloworld> make gcc -O4 -g -DINLINE=__inline -c HelloWorld.cpp -o HelloWorld.o gcc -O4 -g -DINLINE=__inline HelloWorld.o -o HelloWorld HelloWorld.o(.text+0x6): In function `main': /Development/Development/cpp-projects/Helloworld/HelloWorld.cpp:8: undefined reference to `std::cout' HelloWorld.o(.text+0x12):/Development/Development/cpp-projects/Helloworld/HelloWorld.cpp:8: undefined reference to `std::cout' HelloWorld.o(.text+0x1c):/Development/Development/cpp-projects/Helloworld/HelloWorld.cpp:8: undefined reference to `std::basic_ostream<char, std::char_traits<char> >& std::operator<< <std::char_traits<char> >(std::basic_ostream<char, std::char_traits<char> >&, char const*)' HelloWorld.o(.text+0x80): In function `__static_initialization_and_destruction_0': /gcc/lib/gcc/ppc-amigaos/4.0.2/../../../../include/c++/4.0.2/iostream:76: undefined reference to `std::ios_base::Init::~Init()' HelloWorld.o(.text+0x94):/gcc/lib/gcc/ppc-amigaos/4.0.2/../../../../include/c++/4.0.2/iostream:76: undefined reference to `std::ios_base::Init::Init()' make: *** [HelloWorld] Error 1

Just as a side note here, it might be worth to note that WEP encyption does take time to process on both the in and out packets.
On my wireless setup here, I have the router set to filter out any MAC addresses that aren't on the list. This makes the system faster, as it only requires a check when the connection is first initiated.
Anyone not on my list isn't getting in :)
Simon
All well and good, but they'll be able to read yer packets... even if you use WEP encoding, someone like the guy we had down at work to install an Internet remote access secure device reckoned he could crack a WEP network in 5 minutes ! WPA is the way to go, so since my 3com card will only do WEP, I've kinda not bothered with it for a while !

What (if any) USB PCI cards are supported on A1XE (to be specific) under OS4 ? What (if anything) do I need to do to use a USB PCI card through the default stack, and will it support 2.0 ?
My guess (worst case) is that it would require a new .device perhaps...
