Re: Wanted Ctorrent Betatester
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Finally had a go at this using my classic.
Very impressed with the speed.
Never used torrent downloading before so tried Transmission and then ctorrent.

Transmission obviously easier because of the gui.
But the speed of ctorrent just blows transmission out of the water.

I don't have the posting problem under 1.14 although I did using some earlier versions.

The scroll bars make all the difference to the usability.
Nice work.

Could just do with a bit more speed now.
Still if the Shark makes an appearance, that would certainly speed things up.

Someone has claimed on a another site that someone at Elbox has unofficially confirmed this will happen.

Great news if it happens.

@bamiga2002

The mixer that came with the MMCD.
I think the problem was that I had forgotten to add that previously.

I have 128 on a classic.
Usually ok on most sites, but not always.
128 was fine under 3.9 but a bit short under 4.

I'm hoping to have 256 shortly and from what I've seen, that should be plenty.

Freezng problem occuring constantly with versons 10, 11 and 12.

No problem prior to that.
Always happens when clicking on a link within a site.

I have now downloaded 1.11, but still have lockups.

The first page on a site seems fine.
When I click on links to pages within a site, OWB attempts to load the page.
At some point during the load the bar sticks.
If I click on the browser, everything locks up, no error messages.

Have reinstalled the fonts using the correct method.
No more error message but I am getting random lockups now instead.

@Mikey_C

You feeling any better now?
There seems to be a lot going on again.
Perhaps people have been busy developing.

Yet another update to OWB and getting faster.
Major updates to Hollywood (I need to buy this)
PointRider updated.
Fryingpan updated, also seems to be gaining speed and now reeds other formates like Nero nrg.
WookieChat constantly updated.

Shortly there will be a bugfix update to OS4 classic.
I believe there are updates along the way for both versions of OS4.

This is just a quicklist of the top of my head of things I have been looking into and using.

Aminet and OS4Depot have stuff added daily.

All in all, things could be better, but they could be a whole lot worse.

@Rogue

Great news.
It will be interesting to see if there are any speed gains when using the correct drivers.

Cheers.

@Mikey_C

You just need to look into the Mac world for inspiration.
They were on a downward spiral for years.
Now they are starting to take business from Microsoft.
Never say never.

I use my miggy as my main machine and the only thing that seems to be missing compared to windoze is skype.
Can't say I'm bothered about that.

I think most peoples bugbear was lack of a css capable browser.
Even that has now been sorted.

More reasons to be up than down and the positives far outweigh the negatives.

@Antique

I have OS4 Classic, so just let me know want you want me to do.

I have no experience of downloading torrents so you might have to baby me through it a bit, but I'm happy to have a go.

Have already done that, just thought I would let others know of the potential problem.

Presumably, it could be affecting other programs.

Get DSI errors when using the latest version of Amrss and HTMLView.mcc.

Doesn't occur with older versions of HTMLView.mcc.

Anyone else have this problem?

Re: OS4 Classic GFX-problems..

Just had another go at getting my Terratec 512i sound card working.

Did everything by hand.
Now working fine.

Thought I had done that before but perhaps missed something.

Still can't get TV card displaying though.
Sound comes through but no picture.

Tried AmiTV but it crashes on launch.

@ Rogue

Any progress on the new kernel?

@Swoop

Those instructions for TheMpegGUI sorted me out under 4.0.
Nice one, cheers.
Haven't tested 3.9 yet.

Can't believe I had the necessary software installed to do what I want and didn't know it.
How long has it been possible to use Freedb within the TheMpegGUI?
How long has it been possible for TheMpegGUI to rip CDs?

Will try ADripper out of curiosity when I have worked out why I can't install AISS.

@Jack

Wrong again eh?
I'm doing well.
Good job you are all here to put me back on the right track (No pun intended).

Will have a look at ADripper and TheMpegEnc under 4 and 3.9 and see what I can achieve.

Cheers.

@Swoop

I didn't know that.
Freedb is only available under 4.0 (I think) so this would only work that.

I recently acquired AOS4.0 so it's not a problem.

Cheers again.

@ Jack

Yes that's the one.
Setting up was the problem, looked a bit messy.

Although admittedly, it was late at night when I was looking into using it.

@Swoop

Have used the MpegEncGui for years under 3.9.
Has been very handy.
Just seemed a bit much having to rip the cd using Make Cd encoding and editing the tag using MpegEncGUI.
I know there is software that recognises tracks on music cd's under OS4 (Freedb) so was looking for something that would tie all three together.

Will give the first link a try.

Cheers
