Re: OWB 3.13

Not too shy to talk

@joerg

My fonts must have been broken. I moved out the complete contents of fonts: and copied the contents back from the A1 OS4.1 CD... Works now.
I'll add my old fonts back one at a time. checking the family in type manager as i go.

Thanks

Re: Installing amiga os 3.9 and amiga os 4.0 in the same hd

@nubechecorre

The simplest way with out creating scripts and moving assigns is to have two <2GB partitions and make both bootable.

Install OS4.0 on the first partition.
Install OS3.9 on the second partition.

You can alternate this its your preference.

Give the 3.9 partition a boot PRI of 4 and 4.0 partition a boot pri of 3.

This way it will always default to OS3.9. I do this due to the multiple resets caused by blizkick, setpatch rom update etc etc before 3.9 boots.

Now for your 4.0 partiton. If for example you have it on DH1 boot pri 3.

Edit your Kickstart-AXXXX file in sys:kickstarts

add the line

MODULE Kickstart/Bootdevice

Now create a textfile in sys:kickstart called bootdevice to which the contents are the volume name of the drive with OS4.0 on.

Eg: a text file with just the following contents.

DH1

Now you can boot into 3.9 by default But to boot into 4.0 just go into the ESS menu on power up or on reset and select your 4.0 partition as the bootdevice. It won't matter that the 3.9 has a higher boot pri as the bootdevice config youve just created will force 4.0 to boot from your OS4.0 partition after the kickstart has loaded.

Anyone else getting problems with the FaceBook login page with this version?

All the text input elements are really thin with no visable fonts. I couldn't loggin even by typing "invisibly" though that maybe because I couldn't see a typo to correct it.

Yes, It happened since 3.10 IIRC Its in the OWB bug tracker.
I think it has something to do with the OWB TTF fonts as I've got them installed on the A1, but not on the A1200 with OS4. It doesn't seem to happen on the classic.

--edit--

Just deleted the corefonts on the A1 using typemanager and it made no differnce. login elements are still too small with no visible text in them.

Yet if I copy the same OWB folder over to the classic it works ?

@Chris

Nothing from shell but I've got it open with out freezing now.

By default here Its opening on a fakenative 640x480x8 screen and locking up.

By deleting the line use_screenmode:0 from the resource/options file i then got a screenmode requester up and proceed to open fine on a 16bit screen.

edit

I'm thinking the options file was left over from an earlier version as i installed V2 into the same dir.

No change here with the attached .so.
No reaper, nothing with debug kernel or dumpdebugbuffer.
Netsurf opens and instantly appears to lock intuition up.

Re: Screen error!!!

@VooDoo

AFAIK its a hardware problem on mk2's and some mk3's my original did it and I sent it back to the dealer. The replacement also did it. As the dealer couldn't get any more I ended up living with it. It less apparant if you turn off drag and resize with contents.
I think the explanation i was given, at the time (late 2004), was it due to the video ram used on the board, hence why i beleive its a HW issue. It would be great if it could be fixed / worked around in a new ati driver.

@CountRaven

The A1XE never came with a 750GX processor. What youve bought is a XE with a micro A1 cpu module. Whoever sold it to you probably has a micro with the original 750FX module from your XE.

Reason for the swap could be that the person who sold it to you may have been having stability problems with a micro and therefore swapped the cpu's over.

If you have any stability issues I'd get in touch with the seller and ask why you didn't get the original XE cpu.

Catweasel MK3 and MK4 work OK in the XE, only used it for reading data of old 880K and 1760K disks.

never used hollywood but your program has upper and lowercase variables for X

so you are always locating at 0,0 as lowercase x never gets incremented in the loop.

As you have already located why do you need to locate again using textout. try replacing the textout with print A$

Also in basic it used to be CHR$, but as i said i've never used hollywood.

Re: OWB 3.6

@Joerg

3.6 stops responding when using facebook chat for an extended period.
A short conversation is OK but after a 20-30 min chat OWB stops responding.
It needs to be closed and reopened, however as soon as you reopen the chat window in facebook to resume the conversation it stops responding again. Possibly due to the length of the chat history ?

Also on www.teletextholidays.com if you click on the calendar for the depart date it opens the calender popup but no dates are displayed in it, but the date boxes do highlight.

Fastly becoming my favourite browser and the upload feature worked great when i tried it.

-edit-

Forgot to say i'd got two chat windows on.

If your NAS runs SAMBA then yes you should be able to network to it.
IF your NAS has a USB connection and is FAT32 formatted then possibly, I'm affraid that will be a plug it in and see.

Some Handy Samba Links:-

You also may be able to set up a ftp sever on your NAS so worst case you can ftp up and down from it.

Try ftpmount on os4depot

My take on it is there at least 2 if not more people involved.

From the "english" fabrics and decor in the photos and links to english websites one can only assume a english guy is involved still.

So, exactly what happened to both your (1) Amy'05 board, and (2) your Panda board? We are NOT looking for excuses, we are looking for explanations that would allow us to take you seriously again.

I get the feeling the model they are using now is not to disimiliar to what Eyetech did and ACube are doing.

Sell a low entry system to make sufficient profit to allow the Panda UDTech board to become a viable solution.

To be fair its now going to be cheaper to do it this way now then to complete AMY05 board from the ground up.

Trouble is we have a low end model with the SAM440 and I don't think there is enough market space amongst our community for another lowend linux box which may or maynot endup running OS4.1

However, it could be winner if the price performance ratio is better than the SAM440, more so in the current economic climate.

With no comment either way from troika or hyperion about OS4.1 availability on this, who is going to buy it though ?
You could easly just gamble on buying a PS3 and have that as a linux developer box.

@Troika

As Pauls says over on Amigaworld, show us a HighSpec machine running OS4.1 and we'll put on another BigBash.... best of luck, but come back when you have proof of a product which runs OS4.1.

Re: Is My AmigaOne Working? After Battery Replacement
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@Atheist

Taking the battery out of your A1 won't delete or downgrade Uboot, thats safe in the flashrom.
All that might happen is that you loose the settings, which you've mentioned, or they go corrupt and need a reset.
I had to do that before also when swapping a battery.
If you can boot to workbench like you say, just changes things like DMA, parallel port mode etc through prefs/uboot.

E-UAE doesn't have a gui under OS4.X, However:-

To insert a disk in df0:

ctrl+alt+f1

df1:

ctrl+alt+f2

grab mouse

ctrl+alt+g

toggle window, fullscreen

ctrl+alt+s

quit

crtl+alt+q

reset

ctrl+alt+r

If you need df2: and df3: you'll need to add them in your .uaerc file

As for the changes I don't know.
Maybe James could release the source code so it could be fixed and ported to AOS4, MOS, AROS etc too. Perhaps a bounty to get the guy a SAM ?
