I will then make a guide out of it and include it in my porting for dummies guide, for all to benefit from!

I think this kind of information should be on the AmigaOS Documentation Wiki including your "porting guide".

Note the Kicklayout is considered an OS controlled file much like the Startup-Sequence and thus will overwritten by updates.

Correct if i'm wrong: i solved this commenting "dropinterface".
Well, could it be related to the "-lauto" switch I use in gcc, thus Os automatically provides to close libraries, drop interfaces and so on?

I really don't recommend using the "-lauto" feature. Instead, consider always explicitly controlling the resources you need in your programs.

Take a look at AmiWest Lesson 2: Fundamentals where there is some guidance and help to simplify this task.

You don't need to keep track of both the Interface and the Library base pointer because every Interface contains a pointer back to the Library base pointer.

Well done Steven

Glad you liked it. I really just answered off the top of my head as honestly as I could.

Please feel free to contact me directly for any clarifications. I don't want anybody walking away saying "I think he meant this..." If in doubt, ask me. http://solie.ca/contact/contact.php

I posted about this many times, but forgot to include a note in the readme, sorry! The problem is the use of the keyword "signals" in the OS SDK includes...

That will be fixed in the next SDK by the way.

I've started working on that already in my spare time but it will be a while.

Well it appears the trademark trampling has ceased now so perhaps now we can move forward with some cooperation.

As "Team Lead" I hear a lot of talk from a lot of people. Not much of it leads to actual working software. Time will tell with this one as well.

There may be an easier way of doing it, but this works.

You might want to check out DOS Notification on the wiki. This is how the system preferences work by setting up notification on the various prefs files.

Note dos.library has universal notification built-in now so it will work no matter what file system is underneath. See the DOS autodocs for more info.

Finally, you can view what notifications are setup using Ranger. Makes it much easier to test things.

Please note you need to set the stack size high before running the tinysid program - I use 2048000.

You might want to check out Controlling Application Stack on the wiki...

We can't be sure that Hyperion has the source/right to develop it further. However it is part of the OS distribution, that should mean something.

Hyperion does have source code and the rights to develop AmiPDF further. There just isn't any pressing need to do much with it.

If some 3rd parties want to create more PDF viewers that is perfectly fine as well.

I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted AmigaOS Development Team Lead I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

I'd also like to see the CAMD devkit made available through AmiUpdate, but that might be up to Lylehaze?

It is an OS component now so any updates will be via the official SDK from now on.

If I remember correct there is no wbstartup directory in AmigaOS4.1 (But you might have one, its more side effect of trying excalibur, the installation script create a directory if its missing, I did not like it being removed, due to legacy.)

Now fixed on the wiki along with a few other things.

You can skip WBStartUp by holding down a key at boot. Can never remember which one though. Shift? Ctrl? Alt?

...You can also hold down the Ctrl key (either one on a PC keyboard) or the middle mouse button (if you have one); this will make the system boot without Startup-Sequence, just like it would do if you selected it from the Early Startup Menu. And if instead you hold down either one of the Shift or Alt keys (including Alt Gr on a PC keyboard), the system will boot without starting anything from the WBstartup drawer; a similar effect to what you would see if you renamed the WBstartup drawer and rebooted...
