@Spectre660 yes, there are 4x usb ports at the back, and we also moved the SD card reader to the back

@DJBase Given the current situation of the availability of electronic components and their cost, the fewer components on the board, the better

@kas1e
I suggest you to:
- put back the 3512 board - attach the SSD to the upper port (or the one where uboot find it) - set the following uboot env var form the console:
setenv sii3512ide_conf 10 saveenv
and then reboot It seems the aos4.1 driver can't decide what kind of device is attached, this way we force it

AFAIK the Sam460 fits inside that case.

@kas1e Quote: And what is funnier, after I touch a few times radiator on the CPU it just .. peeled off !! And i see under it some strange piece of paper :) what is it for ?:) Probably I need now to use some new thermal paste without that "paper" between cpu and radiator .. You need to put the CPU fan (which you'll find in the motherboard box) on the radiator, it's mandatory !

@kas1e Quote: With sam460, I have just VESA: OK, and no prompt. So, should I when sam460 boots, hit "ESC" or something and hit some buttons to have uboot promt? Remove both gfx card and keyboard and boot. On the serial console you'll see the uboot prompt. Type 'print' to list all the env vars, and check if boot1 or boot2 or boot3 is set to 'usb'. If so, you can boot from a usb stick, just use win32diskimager to burn the aos4.1 install iso on the usb stick. Put back the gfx card and the keyboard, insert the usb stick and boot. after a few second the aos41.1 logo should display.

@mr2 Quote: Does this problem also apply to sam440? Because several people couldn't get any GPU (newer than HD6xxx) to work on SAM440. Yes, the problem is similar.

@kas1e Quote: Shouldn't the keyboard's num lock work even if i have no bootable device attached and have no uboot shown? you can use a serial terminal connect to the Sam460 instead of a keyboard (115200 baud, 8N1)

@Spectre660 Quote: You will have to make it easier for people to get new Sam460cr's up and running You are right! I've identified what's the problem with newer Radeon Bios card under U-boot on the Sam boards, but ATM I didn't find any solution about it.

@kas1e
About the 'glue': it's a last minute modification to allow the boards to work on modern ATX power supplies. Basically what happen ? the 'cr' board have less onboard components then the 'ex' version, and its power consumption is very very low, and some/many PSU basically don't sense any load and: or they don't start at all or they give not stable output, which in turn create stability issues. The two resistors you see are there for increasing the power load, they are not there for 'repair'. Next batch will have this (and other minimal modifications) directly onboard.

@kas1e Quote: I just tested it with my RadeonHD Verde card I had in X5000 previously.. And anyway, shouldn't on serial I have something like "no bootable device found" or something, or, when RadeonHD didn't work those latest "VESA: OK" mean system freezes? What's the exact model ? On some HD cards not all ports works under u-boot, try using VGA if you're using DVI/HDMI or viceversa. On the serial output, the "VESA: OK" is usually the last message, after that u-boot will output on the gfx board.

I'm testing the new driver on a Sam460cr, with both a Sound Blaster Audigy FX (the same card as Roman) and a CM8828 with CM9982 codec, but both cards don't work, on the serial console there is this message: HD audio card failed to init Is there a debug version of the driver to gather more info on why it failed to init?

In my opinion, the best solution on a Sam440-flex, with the last u-boot is a Radeon HD 7750 or above. I've tested many RX 550 from different vendors, and so far almost all work well under AmigaOS but there is the issue with u-boot not showing a picture with many RX.

@AmigaBlitter
I've successful used a RadeonHD 5450 (PCI version) on a Sam440ep mini-itx, with U-Boot 1.3.1f, using the RadeonHD 2.7 driver (needs External PCI gfx IRQ disabled from the u-boot menu) Don't expect high CPU VRAM transfers speed (DMA transfers are faster), since data need to go through 2 PCI bridges, but everything which uses composite is very usable.
No idea if a Radeon HD 7xxx will work.

@all we just released an official u-boot update (version 1.3.1f) for Sam440ep boards (both mini-itx and flex variants) ACube web site will be updated shortly, in the meantime, interested flex users may download the new updater from this location: http://www.soft3dev.net/firmware/Sam440ep-flex_updater_131f.zipIt solves some compatibility issues with some Radeon HD cards (but it's untested with 7xxx cards) Please read the instructions carefully !
