The SLB supports this already, it just doesn't work on the SAM. The RDB filesystem IDs for Linux are different on the SAM Linux install to that needed on the old AmigaOne Linux install, so I suspect all that needs doing is an extra line of code to check another filesystem ID. If it helps the devs, the SAM Linux boot filesystem is EXT\03 (maybe it needs formatting as EXT2 as well, but on the AmigaOne the filesystem ID was something irrelevant like LNX\00)
uhm..thanx for the info. AFAIR I used ext2 as filesystem for the SAM, would it help to change the filesystem in MediaToolBox to let's say SFS0? would it be recognized by the SLB then? Too simple as an idea I guess

@kas1e
Sad to hear that. Hopefully it get's a quick fix _pretty soon_ .. it's annoying demoing the system and having to invent stupid excuses as why the language is not working.

@orgin
and I would love a SLB which allows to select a linux partition to boot from..
edit: and a fix to the locale system, as it persists to use the second or third selected language for certain programs instead of the first one. Those apps are part of the OS (notepad, RAWBInfo, and some more) so I suppose there is a catalog for them.

You have to copy them over. Mind though that you'll lose any tool types that 4.1u1 might or might not need unless you only copy the images.
or you may use copyicon http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... =simple&f_fields=copyiconwhich keeps the tooltypes. Although I don't know if it still works on AmigaOs4.1 update 1.

Jabberwocky is a Jabber client. While it's theoretically possible to connect to other IMs using Jabber, you have to give your username and password to a third party.
I found Epistula on OS4Depot and Aminet which claims to be a plugin-based IM client for AIM/ICQ/etc... but it doesn't actually come with any plugins, and I can't find any to download anywhere.
AFAIK Epistula is dead, the author wrote it here or on AW.net I hope I did not get that wrong, correct me if. I had a look at the old fring source code and it was already to much for my coding skills. Anyway I requested a port to the fring developers, let's see if I get a reply. Maybe we should send them more emails.. edit: www.fring.comedit2: or make a bounty and ask/pay jahc if he can improve the fantastic WookieChat or SabreMSN (which is my personal prefered option)

@Dwyloc Quote: Dwyloc wrote: @TrevorDick Thats normal you have now installed Debian Linux fine by the sound of things on your sam
Now you just need to install the new boot loader on acubes website so you get a boot menu with both linux and AOS4 in it.
The boot loader is called "parthenope" and can be downloaded from acubes website and installed with hdtoolbox under OS4.
Its the new boot loader that has been giving me the slow OS4 boot issue so I have unistalled it at the moment and only install it when I want to use Linux. As not everyone is having problems with it it may just work without slowing down the loading of the OS4 kernel and modules like it dose for me.
It slows down here too.. with parthenope it takes almost 1 minute to load the kickstart modules! Sam440Flex 800mhz 1gb ram, WB is on 1st partition and SFS0, SWAP, then Linux partition (with no linux installed yet)

@ChrisH Quote: ChrisH wrote: @Amigo1 Quote:2) copy .uaerc_RunInUAE to ADFs/Turrican/turrican.adf.uaerc_RunInUAE I guess I didn't explain it well enough in the manual - you should NOT copy .uaerc_RunInUAE for *ADFs* because that config is designed for Workbench. For ADFs you need to create an *empty* config file, only which holds the changes you want to make to the main .uaerc file (such as loading new disks).
Perhaps it would be less confusing if ADFs did *not* use FILENAME.uaerc_RunInUAE files, but used FILENAME.uaerc instead?
you did explain it well, I suppose I didn't explain myself well in my post. Anyway, I tried the before mentioned procedure even if you said it should *not* be used like that, because I need a per game config file. I could not see any difference between a newly created file and the "#?RunInUAE". Since it does not work I guess you are parsing the file for some comment in the file itself? Yes, it may be less confusing if for ADFs FILENAME.uaerc is used instead. edit: mmh..it does not work even if I create a new, empty file, either.

@Rigo
Please do bother! IMHO AmigaUpdate is one of the best system add-ons of the last years! It should be integrated in AmigaOS without a second thought!
Keep working on it, please.

@ChrisH thanks it works really smooth here on samflex, even changing the default resolution to 640x512 and scanline to double! but I have a question, how to set a special config file for ADFs? quote from the guide Quote: Also, you can have a special config file for ADFs, but you would *not* usually copy the main ".uaerc_RunInUAE" file, because that is intended for Workbench.
in fact copying and renaming a .uaerc_RunInUAE config as mentioned in the guide does not work for ADF files; suddenly double clicking on that specified ADF file doesn't start e-uae anymore. e.g.: 1) double clic on turrican.adf starts ok 2) copy .uaerc_RunInUAE to ADFs/Turrican/turrican.adf.uaerc_RunInUAE 3) double clic on turrican.adf does not start the emulator even after reset.

@K-L SMTP is not the problem as it serves just to send the email. I want to be able to access my mailbox first. anyway, the very same config works on YAM even if I obmit the "@googlemail.com" part in the account name (contrary on what is explained if you follow the link to google-help) and thanx for helping out

Just pulled up my YAM config. Gmail DOES use SSL encryption, I'm not sure if simplemail supports this. (The last guy got it to work apperently, though I can't read French, and neither can Google, despite what they claim. ) Anyway, the SMTP is pop.gmail.com port 465 and it uses SSLLv3 Authentication. The POP3 settings are for the same server (pop.gmail.com), only on port 995 instead. My ISP switched over to Gmail instead of maintaining their own POP server (Beacuse TDS are a bunch of cheap a$$ $&^*%^%@@!!!), and I'm still using "their" email to send stuff. The server/port settings should still be the same, though.
EDIT: Looks like K-L shows the right settings for downloading from Gmail, but he's using a different server to send mail. (The SMTP stuff)
EDIT2: Tried the english translation, Google didn't slaughter it as badly as I thought it would.
I managed to read his article, but still no luck here.. I guess I will have to try with YAM.. Thanks for your help anyway
