Re: What's the latest PUBLIC newlib.library version?
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I have problems on X1000 with new newlib from Amiupdate:

- libc.so v 53.80 + newlib.library.kmod v 53.80 crashed - i.e. breaks after loading cca 90% of kernel modules ( info from botton red stripe, have not serial debug )

- if I revert to older libc.so v.53.61 + newlib.libraty.kmod v 53.62 all works OK.

do you have any ideas?

Which 1080p video do you use? And do you have Prefs/Power set to High power?

Hi,

testing a little RadeonHD v5.14 for X1000:

- first experience was: looking on serial debug, RadeonHD started, but black screen
- I change my primary HD7970 for HD 7750, also black screen
- finally I removed my secondary card ( HD6670 for linux ) and all works like a charm - HD7750+Emotion with HD 720p, H264 utilizes CPU to 20-35%, DVPlayer 10-20%.

So it works fine with one gfx card! Thanks to all invilved.

But not works with two cards. Just now I have linux on X1000 broken, so it is not actual problem, but it need some fix on future. Or maybe I have to setup something?

I tried Augustus with this results:

X1000 @1920x1080 - playable and fast
Sam440ep-flex 733 MHz @1920x1080 - playable, but a little luggy, better to decrease resolution a little
Sam440ep 667 MHz @800x600 - playable and fast enough !!!

So, very nice port, thanks to SinanSam460!

Sam440ep is my "new", not properly installed yed, this was only fast test.

@Raziel

"works for me" in this case means, that I have it inside my X1000 several years without problems.

I.e. interleaving probably works - I have to measure RAM speed

@Raziel

thank you for your experience.

For me interleaving working at least with two modules.
I have modules in sockets DIMM1 and DIMM3 ( first left and first right from CPU ). Only four modules makes troubles.

I tested it few years ago, so I am not sure if it works the same way with sockets DIMM2 and DIMM4 ( far left and far right from CPU ).
I will test it and also will check speed without interleaving ( one module, or both modules on one CPU side)

And I have the same modules types, but they not marked like "matched pair". Maybe this can matters too.

Re: Compatible memory modules

I have question this time on X1000 memory:

X1000 has two DDR2 controllers, each with two sockets, i.e. is possible to place 4 pcs od RAM modules á 4 GB = total 16 GB.

I have two 2GB modules, one on each controller, total of 4GB.
If I tried 4 modules, system doesn't work or was unstable ( both AnigaOS and linux)

Do anybody sucseed use 4 modules on X1000? And if yes, please which types?

Very nice work! And many thanks...
I will test on X1000 and Sam440ep-flex (there I wonder if it will be playable)

I see on video that speed on Sam460ex is sufficient.

I am not expert with coding, but linux operates / and // in path the same way.
I.e.: path/path2 = path//path2, /path = //path

Can be possible that somewhere in the code "/" is added in case the path is not specified correctly (i.e. is without /)?

Thank you all for very enthusiastic discussion. You can see that Amigaos is really a heart matter.

And don't you think that nearly everything has been said? We are moving in circles.

Perhaps we could stay here with technical details discussion and set up a new thread for discussion on price policy and users' wishes.

@Spectre660
If we want to re-schedule packages inhlalt and prices, for me today makes sense this:
Of course, the situation can be totally different after NovaBrige or SystemV54

1. RadeonHD - i.e. RadeonHD V3.7 + Warp3DNova + other
2. RadeonHD-SI - i.e. RadeonHD V5 + Warp3DNova + UVD + other
3. RadeonRX - i.e. RadeonRX + Warp3DNova + UVD + other

but it is not my deal...

Re: RadeonHD V.5 driver

I ordered new RadeonHD V5. Somebody have to pay it.
If it will be free of charge, there will be no modern drivers.
Thank you Hans.

Yes, we can discuss if price of development of this driver have to be included with other packages, or sell it alone, or have have several different packages...
I know, it is not common among other OSes, but is clear, that developers have to be payed somehow.
For me new HD driver for Southern Island is very good thing. And I like if it will works also with Sam440ep-flex - because this old AmigaNG is really good with SouthernIsland card.

And regarding the cost - it is not small price, but on the other way I have my basement full of PSUs, graphics cards, RAMs, disks, cables, reductions, measuring tools and all other computer and network stuff... ( Rest of the space in cabinets is filled by my dress and shoes )
If I calculated price all of this... Terrible!

There is only one way how to have cheap drivers - larger AmigaNG user base. And everyone can help here...

thank you very much for clarification.

Please is possible write this details to eshop product description?

regarding the MiniGL / Warp3D compatibility:

Do somebody know, what version of miniGL + mglut library can I use for GLQuake?

In past it works for me with X1000 + RadeonHD + Warp3D SI, today not.
It is very old game, but I like to use GLQuake for benchmarking.

I have now HD 7970 and in past I had HD 6570 and old RadeonHD version.
