@NomadOfNorad Quote: Are you saying here that the album art will be stored in the same directory as the related MP3s, or that it will be stored in its own directory relative to the MP3s? I'm not sure yet! The Media library DB will link it all together so it doesn't really matter where it all sits at the end of the day. But a decision will be made that best suits the system and usage. The plugin API will be updated further so that misc info can be reported back into the info window also, so that sample names for MODS etc... will be possible. We've (FuZion and I) much to work on in 2007 with the Skinable GUI and everything so I'll provide more details nearer the time. See you all in 2007. Cheers, Bean.

@ToAks Sorry Toaks. There's been lots of questions scattered around, I try to get round to them all. Album cover support will be properly covered in one of the later releases. The reason why the info window is there in this release was I was too lazy to take it out! Album covers will be stored in directorys and referenced in the main media library DB once complete. Also image extraction from MP3 IDV3 tags will be supported. @TrevorDick, Many Thanks, much appreciated! @All, Happy new year! :) Cheers, Bean.

@Outcast
In the latest version the time is shown in the list once you start playing. Are you asking for it to be pre - populated before hand?

@Outcast,
Can't argue with that one. :D :D
Hopefully in the future all this can be integrated nicely with AWeb, IBrowse and ...

@Raziel,
I strongly don't recommend that way as you'll be downloading it twice at the same time, once by AWeb, the other by TuneNet.
The above popup method is the only way to make AWeb ignore downloading it and leave it up to TuneNet... ....until the next AWeb is released that is.
Cheers, Bean.

Whilst I'm here there are a couple of other things you can do with TuneNet you may not be aware of:
1/ If you add the following to the Screen Title Format within OS4's Workbench Prefs
Music : %e TuneNet/playing (%e TuneNet/status )
You should be able to see what is playing on the Workbench Title bar.
2/ If you have a multimedia keyboard you can use the tapedeck keys with the "AllKeys" program and control TuneNet from the keyboard.
Use the following commands:
For the Play Button: run >nil: TuneNet:TuneNet -restarttune
Stop: run >nil: TuneNet:TuneNet -stoptune
Previous Tune: run >nil: TuneNet:TuneNet -prevtune
Next Tune: run >nil: TuneNet:TuneNet -nexttune
There are more CLI controls, just do a TuneNet ? to find them.
3/ Within TuneNet you can use the cursor keys to scroll through the list, and space to select a tune.
If you are searching through songs with the find bar within TuneNet press return when you see your song, and then use the cursor keys/space to play it.
Cheers, Bean.

Quote: This MP3 thingie, would it be possible to incorporate this with the browser? So that when i click the mp3/ogg link, it will be "streamed"? Should be possible through PIPE, i already tried it with P setting in AWeb, unfortunately it didn?t find the file name for obvious reasons, AWeb wasn?t done with downloading
Can i request this? Well there is only one way I know to get this working in AWeb without AWeb downloading the whole track first, and that is with a the popup menu when you hover over a link. In AWeb do the following: 1/ Go to GUI Prefs. 2/ Move to the "Pop Up" tab (4th one) 3/ Select "Link" from the Type selector. 4/ Click "Add". 5/ For the Title type "TuneNet it!" 6/ for the command type: SYSTEM pathtotunenet/TuneNet -stream %u (Replace the pathtotunenet with own path to the TuneNet exe) 7/ Press save (not sure if you have to restart AWeb). Then go to a direct MP3 link and right click over the link and select the "TuneNet It!" option. NOTE: It only works with MP3 files. Streams for other plugin types will come in a future update. I think Andy Broad may have added some additional support in the next version of AWeb. We'll have to wait and see. Perhaps you can do something similar with IBrowse as well. Cheers, Bean. - Edit it's -stream not - stream

@Raziel,
Did you know you can also add "m3u" to those mime extension settings and that should allow m3u files to be accessed also?
The -p5 is a switch for the playing priority. If left out it will use the priority level set in the GUI.
Also, did you also know TuneNet can open MP3 files directly from the web without having to download them all first? Use the Open URL requester and paste the URL link of the MP3 file.
Cheers, Bean.

Quote: Thanks for this new release!
How does this AmiUpdate support work? Ah - can't say much more about this at the moment. That's Rigo's domain. Quote: Also, is there a system in place (or coming soon) to find album art, or should we download it manually?
It's comming in some form, I've already written the routines to extract images from MP3 tags (not in the service release). External sources will no doubt be used as well. I need to crack on with the Full skinable system now. (I'm sure FuZion will agree with me here)! Cheers, Bean.

Quote: Thanks for this excellent work. Nonetheless, the "about" still says "TuneNet V0.84.64". Hi, Indeed it is. But the version string in the program is now correct and in the standard format (which is wasn't previously). Do a version TuneNet to be sure. Cheers, Bean.

Quote: Just wondering about this one: Added basic support for converting unicoded MP3 tags to original ASCII
Sorry, I didn't word that very well - I'm sleepy... Some strings in MP3 tags are stored in Unicode, my tag reader will do a simple conversion on these so they become readable within the GUI. For example: The Amigan DJ Nick's tracks always displayed as muddled characters under the last version, now they are readable. Cheers, Bean. I need to sleep.

Hi, A new release of TuneNet can be found on the homepage ( www.tunenet.co.uk) which fixes some issues with the last public release. Although not perfect yet as there are still some remaining bugs, here is a list of what has been fixed: V0.84.(72) - Alpha * Fixed filename buffer corruption on auto save / load playlist * Fixed crash on MP3 library missing. * Fixed decode mode allocation for listers, which was always 3 bytes short. * Fixed order in cleanup functions. * Fixed docky lockup issues on OS4 Final (now a requirement because of this). * Fixed Version string. * Added AmiUpdate support. * Added basic support for converting unicoded MP3 tags to original ASCII. * Added basic info window (more to come). * Started to add support for multi-threaded DB access. * Added priority switch (Passive) in plugin API / TuneNet This is a Work in Progress version (IE: Alpha). Cheers, Bean.

@Orgin, Probably something to do with the docky. Which I've fixed in the latest version. Also the to-short-a memory allocation in the previous release doesn't help. I've got a pretty stable version here, but last night made the mistake in attempting to make my Database class totally thread safe to fix up the occassional "wrong title" issues and the deadlier clear list problems. I'm now in the depths of task soft-locking mechanisms and Recordset read/write locks..... sigh! ..and before anyone says use PThreads mutex's; the answer is they didn't give the required performance in the current implementation. TuneNet is now almost entirely void of PThreads. + I'm back at work, so this'll take a bit longer I'm afraid. Cheers, Bean. P.S. Anyone with loads of issues please download the older version from the TuneNet homepage ( www.tunenet.co.uk)!

@Outcast,
Really! Cool - this service release should be a lot neater than the last release. It's in testing now so should be available soon. I might even be able to persuade Curty to release a new plugin also at the same time :)
Cheers, Bean.
