Re: IBrowse problem on exit. Does anyone know why?

@LyleHaze

No way, I've been told that IB only crashes on MY micro, it's solid as a rock on everyone else's system, you must be mistaken!

Ok, happens to me too. I feel it's a 'write to disk' thing when IB quits. I got some stability by turning off the disk cache. About the only thing being written to disk now is the GlobalHistory file. When I had IB on an SFS partition, I would always have to re-boot after a recoverable alert, I now have IB on an FFS partiton & recovery alerts are now recoverable. Maybe because FFS writes are a bit slower? Just don't know whats really going on, but it seems to be better, but not fixed, on an FFS partition.

Change the icons "Default Tool" to just Newscoaster & save.

@afxgroup

I get a GR when it wants to create a new user if I just cancel the window, ignore the GR, & it works. No problem if the old .user file exists.

Thanks for the port.

Took me 3 tries to deciper the code in the box to post a comment. The stick type characters with the crosshatch background makes it damn hard to figure out some letters. It needs to be easier before I'll post any more comments.

@Antique

I get a grim as well, I select a torrent file & after a second, I get a total lockup.

OK, got it to work a few times after ignoring the GR. The only thing I didn't like was the contrast between the background & the info text in the boxes, very hard to read. I still need to re-boot half the time.

I think you should set the minimum stack to 32768 for os4 apps.

@Slayer

You could just rename the VOB files from PB.VOB to PB_01.avi & try avisplice on os4 depot to make one big file. I'm assuming there's more then 1 VOB video file. At least dvplayer & mplayer will play the renamed video.

I suspect this is a problem with Kingcon. Does it crash if you do a CTRL-C first to stop ffmpeg, then kill the shell window?

I could probably change the code to force using the standard shell but then you would loose the scroll bars that Kingcon supplies. Is that better or worse?

Yes, if I stop the conversion with Ctrl-C & then click on the shell close gadget, I lock up & need to re-boot.

yescop says he doesn't have this problem, so it could be my setup, I only just noticed that your shell window didn't have the scroll bar that kingcon adds, that was my clue.

Like yescop, I've been trying to create a video dvd that works with DvPlayer & my dvd player, no luck so far.

@ktadd

I think I mentioned this before, closing the gui shell window would cause a hard lockup of my system at times & sometimes in the middle of doing a large conversion. Seems it doesn't work right if you use Kingcon like I do. I went back to the standard shell & the problem is gone so far after a night of testing. Not sure if you can re-work the shell output window to fix this, that or I'm setting up Kingcon wrong, but this is the first problem I've had with it.

Thanks for ffmpeggui

@MamePPCA1

You must have threads.library installed already or Transmission won't run. Are you downloading to an FFS2 partition or SFS? Downloading to SFS seems to cause problems, FFS2 download is stable for me. I did take the v1.5 threads.library from the SDK & installed that into Libs:.

@hotrod

It seems that a lib, or something Transmission uses has a conflict with SFS. There is the pthreads.lha on OS4 Depot which is really the threads.library v1.4. The SDK has v1.5 of the threads lib, & I've tried both, but stability is still not there. Now we have a new pthreads.library that came with the July 07' update & I'm wondering if thats intended to be a replacement for the threads lib.

So the question I have, is the threads.library in conflict somehow with SFS?

Wish I could be sure that was the answer, try it & post your observations here.

I'm doing one more test now, back on sfs, downloading, but uploading is set at zero Kb/s.

I use SFS on all my partitions & Transmission is very unstable for me. I decided to convert 1 partition back to FFS2 to see if anything changed, stability wise.

I have Transmission & the torrent files on the FFS2 partition now & it's very stable so far. I also download to the FFS2 partition, so SFS is totally out of the picture.

This is on a micro with a GX G3, 512Mb ram, & July update.
SFS v1.279
diskcache lib v3.16
FFS2 v52.2
dos lib v52.12
exec lib v52.8

I also noticed that threads.library v1.5 is used. I'm assuming this is an older version of pthreads.library?

I also tested with SFS from update #4, SFS v1.252 & diskcache v3.9, but stability was still bad.

A 1G module won't work in a micro anyway, 512MB is max.

Re: Transmission

I installed it & it looks nice, but it locks up on me when downloading & I have to warm re-boot to get rid of the window. It also adds a docky to amidock with no way to turn that feature off. Seems that some of the pref settings aren't working yet. I was really hoping this would work for me as I like the cache feature giving a fast startup over ctorrent, which is much slower because it has to re-check the files on every resume.

Progress is good & I hope the bugs get worked out someday.

If you set the video bitrate setting in ffmpegGUI to "No Change" it will issue the -sameq command so there is no need to type it into the "additional commands" box.

Nice to know, thanks.

I'm pretty sure I grabbed ffmpeg off the MPlayer site instead of OS4 Depot, I don't recall having to rename it, maybe you did as well.

Re: ffmpeg

@Swoop

I have ffmpeg in C: & disabled the path in ffmpegGUI (CMD_PATH =), works for me.

In a shell, I change directory to where the input file is, then the command line is:

ffmpeg -i file.flv -sameq out.avi

This gives me a .avi file in the same directory as the input file.

In ffmpegGUI, set input & output file name & paths, leave video & audio at default & enter -sameq in the option box.

Both methods give me an avi file with audio.

Problem with mpg files & pad settings confirmed here, email sent.

I get jaggies on the right side of an mpg file converted with different pad settings. I haven't tried the newer ffmpeg port yet, but will soon.

Can anyone help me confirm what appears to be a bug in the ffmpeg program?

When using the -padtop, -padright or -padleft options with the ffmpeg program I get an ffmpeg crash. If I set the -padbottom to something other than zero at the same time all the other pad options work fine. If padbottom is set to zero or not given then the only combination of pad options that works is if you have -padtop, -padleft and -padright set to something other then zero.

This occurs when running ffmpeg from the command line or using the ffmpegGUI program and putting, for example, -padtop 20 in the additional commands string.

Does this cause a crash for others as well?

Thanks!
ktadd

No crashes here, I tried each -pad, one at a time & in combination in a shell & the output file showed the correct effect with no crashes.

Same with ffmpegGUI, only tried -padleft so far, but it worked as well. I'll test more tomorrow.

I had a few random lockups, but if I let the app run unmolested, it had no problems.
