Re: OS4 partitions for OS4.1
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@Swoop

I've done that, you lose one of the DHxx: designations, so it would show DH0 - DH1 - DH3, losing DH2 for example. If that bugs you, you can edit the partition designations & line them up again. I don't think that would require re-formatting as I can't remember having to do that. You would have to re-format any partitions that change size.

I've been told that a 1GB partition would work just fine.

I just installed it last night, we need bookmarks.

There was a bookmark app written for it, wonder if it still works?

@amigakit

There is no 'add to cart' or 'buy now' button with IBrowse, I'll fire up vista & try again. I'll let you know how it goes, thanks.

OK, 4.1 ordered!

@Raziel

I saved the variables with UBoot Prefs & tried to load them back in after a battery change a few months ago, no go. A printed copy of nvgetvar saved me a lot of work getting them all put back.

Re: PCI Riser cards

@wizzard_o

Cool off a little before you post, this isn't breaking news & has been known for quite some time. As far as 4.1, it will work fine on our micro's. Only issue will be the video memory on the 7000 vs screen size selected. I'm using a 1280x1024x32 WB screen without problems on a 19" tft. Bigger monitors may require a 16 bit WB because of the limited gfx memory.

Nobody is happy about the limitations of the micro.

There seems to be 2 different fixes for dma.
1. dma fixed but stops gfx cards from working.
2. dma fixed that allows gfx cards to still work.

The micro has the #1 fix & this probably stops riser cards from working as well.

There's a thread here gfx card problems

@wizzard_o

Sorry to tell you guys, but a riser card won't work in a micro. A shame as I'd like one as well. No riser card, no gfx card for micro owners.

@orgin

Looks like the buttons need js. I set this in the IB url prefs, http://#? with js defined as 'off'. If I change it to js 'on', the buttons work ok.

Using IBrowse, preview used to work, not sure what changed if its on my end.

hmm, does it require js? I have that off by default.

Re: A1 won't boot from HD or CDRom?

@Slayer

I have 2 HDs & I swapped them around, got the floppy screen, I'm sure its just a configuration that uboot is seeing. You can go into the uboot menu & turn off all drives except the boot HD & see if it boots, if not, turn off all HDs & boot from the CDROM with a boot CD. Once you get it to boot, you can test other settings.

@Slayer

I don't have a sil0680 card, but according to the docs, the following uboot settings might help.

setenv sii0680ide_conf 1211 <--drive configuration
setenv sii0680ide_maxbus 2 <--use both ports
setenv sii0680ide_irq 1111 <--irq setting
setenv sii0680ide_xfer FEGF <--UDMA setting
saveenv

Hit return after each line.

You can open a shell after & use the nvgetvar command to verify they have been set & saved. You might want to hold off on the UDMA setting until your system is booting right.

You could open a shell & type,

nvgetvar >ram:uboot.txt

Paste the output text here so we at least know what your uboot settings are.

@Slayer

There are 2 uboot variables that may be causing the problem, sii0680ide_conf which defines the drives connection order & sii0680ide_xfer which is the udma settings for the drives. Since you moved the drive order, those 2 variables could be set wrong. Re-define them if you know the correct setting or delete them & let the system sort it out.
