@clusteruk Well, personally I'm probably not one of the majority here when I say I do not consider these other OS flavours as AMIGA... they are not, they might be imitations but I'm not flattered... So that probably answers your question from just my point of view... The other reason which is probably more PC is the fact that this board does not want to become like the rest of the existing boards out there which have turned into some bloody melting pot and placing freedom of speech above proper protocol... Go to an AROS site or a Linux site whatever and have a happy life If this site suddenly started to allow too much open forum I'd eventually stop posting... I've kind of stopped in many ways already... I'm not interested in a community but a tight Amiga mentality Isn't it ironic that the likes of me, an Amiga User from 1986 and not owned or used anything else but an Amiga doesn't feel comfortable on a supposedly PRO Amiga environment? You might try and say move with the times and I say to you get out of my past In the end I might have to run my own board, there might not be many members but I can promise you there will be ORDER! heh

But small problem... 800 Base Random 180 12 level or rank... should equal 21480 like in my above post... in yours it's 20680 please check the code? sorry but it looks awesome! heh edit: oh I see what's happened... you just haven't added in the base amount (lvl 1 800 amount... the calculator adds lvl2 to lvl12 though)... I can live with that... THANKS!!!!! The picture etc is just the crowning cosmetics

I must say that that looks very complete trouble is I'm not sure I can compile SDL language?
I thought of another way to calculate it too... since it increases the same amount each time... you could do this...
12 x 800 = 9600
then... to get from level 2 to level 12 it would be
1 + 2 +3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 =
66 x 180 = 11880
9600 + 11880 = 21480
Maybe this example would be easier to code?

@ZeroG Thats great but I think I'd need to edit the c code then recompile it then execute it for the answer? I was thinking more of the program prompts you for a base rate then prompts you for a random value then prompts you for a rank... THEN it calculates this and spits out the total exp value The 800 120 and 12 were off the top of my head to illustrate the logic I do like the look of the code though! Thanks!

That had crossed my mind but I might wait till the author happen by... unless his filesystem completely removes the headers of the files and only relies on moving the actual file into the .recycle dir there should be a way to detect them... Wasn't sure where to post this but hey, we want to compile it for AOS4.x
Been playing through FFXIII on the 360 for quite a while now and it's dawned on me that a program for calculating weapon upgrades would be handy...
Here is the criteria of the program
You start off with a base amount which also is the exp needed to get to level 1...
say 800
once you hit level 1 the exp to get to level 2 is level 1 + a random amount
The random amount could be 180 for example... so you need 800 + 180 to get to level 2... 980...
and the process continues to compound... to get to level 3 it would be 980 + 180... etc etc etc....
Lets call each level a rank... upto rank 99 would be enough...
The program would prompt us for a base amount then a random amount and then a rank... and add it all together...
So logic would follow like this
800 180 12 <-- 12 levels or ranks in this calculation...
The final figure would be (let me get the calculator lol)
800 980 1160 1340 1520 1700 1880 2060 2240 2420 2600 2780
equals = 21480
And that's all I'd want the program to do... cough that figure up... for those that do play FFXIII and are wondering about upgrading when a item comes in at level 9 for example... no worries, you simply use the next level as the base level and remove 10 levels from your rank input...
Anyway, does anyone understand ok? so is anyone up to the task? If you feel generous you could release the code so I might be able to tweak it later.

ps... just for final notes... I don't think you'll need more than 99 ranks... most I've seen so far is 91... and I wouldn't think we'd need over 9,999,999. final output... possibly even 999,999 but I don't want to take the chance lol

@Ricossa Ummm, not if your drives are formatted with the NORECYCLED as stated in the original post I choose to live without this convienence simply because I found having this directory slows (and in some cases severely) deleting and moving and copying operations... many times I'd have to enter the actual hidden directory and delete its contents just so the filesystem would carry on... Never understood why it happened (related to rollover max perhaps?) and simply worked around it... It doesn't look good I'll probably have to do all the hardwork myself when I have time... I won't be touching DH6 in the meantime anyway... it was full of storage at the time and I was just beginning to relocate its files...

Ah, you are addressing my backup choices? great, just what I wanted to hear LOL
Even though of course 4.4 gigs isn't a lot, at least if you lose one DVD you lose part of your media... a 500 gig back up can still die eventually... If I went that way I'd need two of these... which incidently isn't a stupid idea anyway...
I have more than 500 gigs on DVDs... yes I know about 1T plus options...
Anyway, lets just please try and recover this directory...

I was in a hurry and just finished transferring the files in yip to one of my SATA partitions to burn to a DVD, I decided to click up a directory select yip (which was empty) and delete it... I accidently selected yip2 below it as well...
The other annoying thing is, I can't recall what was in yip2... heh

Greetings all...
I think in one post some time again I said if you need to undelete something you shouldn't be using a computer... LOL well I still maintain that but it appears even if you're experienced you can still make errors with slight of hand...
Now, because I'm so experienced I disabled the sanity check in DirOp after selecting something to delete LOL
What has happened is I accidently left my finger on the left mouse button and select 2 directories instead of 1... and in doing so have err deleted 25 gigs of other material...
Its Sunday here and I've got a busy day ahead of me and I haven't got time to trial and error software etc...
and yes you've guessed it, I format with NORECYCLED as an option...

yes it is a card that allows me to run my older ide drives via the pci in the sam flex from my old AmigaOne and yes, it is a whole drive not partitioned...
is there a SFSundelete path? I just don't have time today and I'm willing to listen to ideas but I'd like to hear if someone has actually gone through this?

I dunno, I have SAM then FLEX and happy to add to the family...
btw, relating to this memory thing... not too concerned about what it could possibly mean but I elimated the SWAP partition entirely after I got the FLEX... I do not consider virtual memory a solution...
Give me the ability to install 4 to 8 gigs of real memory anyday...

Although I own 3 A1000s I've never turned them on... I preferred the B2000 or up until I got SAMs the PPC A4000 or similair...
