@Kreciu
Hearsay means that you hear and you say (you are repeating what you have heard without independent verification), but don't provide any independent corroborating evidence. That means that as far as another person can tell, it might not be true. Remember, the Bible calls for the testimony of two or three witnesses?not just one person repeating what they've been told. That is still only one witness. Give me more that I can independently verify. The page you gave does not give a specific reason for boycotting them, it just says to boycott them. Even using search engines I could find no independent corroboration of what you have said about Paypal. That is not sufficient cause for me to act. Just because one person says something bad about someone?no matter how intensely they might believe it?does not make that bad thing true.

In other words, so far, it?s only hearsay.
I?d like to warn people about it, but without independent confirmation...

That does not answer my question. I am against abortion, too. But my question was ?Can you independently confirm what you have said about Paypal??

The page given says that LDI is dropping PayPal and has Ebay (including PayPal) as a boycott target, but gives no direct information as to why. Can you independently confirm what you have said about PayPal?

I'm not sure when the US Supreme Court reconvenes, much less when this court reconvenes, but the latest development is that the judge took three weeks to extend a deadline.

Oh, that's OK, there?s no need. Anyone who wants to know what I was on about can listen to my latest chat (070825, available on my web site; and recorded and uploaded before finding the moderator?s edit, so no, the two are not connected).
I'm actually rather surprised that the post stayed as long as it did, which in itself is a testimony against those who claim that the moderation is too tight here.

Coming from another perspective, a Mac-using friend and coworker of mine is genuinely wondering, if Amiga is so dead and out of date, why is it that there are so many lawsuits involved with it? Why would people who are so big and powerful as a past financial steward of George Soros of all people care so deeply about something that is supposedly so dead and out of date?
We should all stop throwing brikbats at each other and take the time to figure out what it is that is so attractive to these people about Amiga.
Time to get a clue?

@Helge
There are details to be ironed out (as to what actually has happened), but if it turns out that Hyperion is judged to be at fault (for refusing to turn over source code that they had agreed would be turned over) will those same individuals who are currently hammering away at Amiga, Inc. then stop, turn, and point a finger at Hyperion, or will they close their eyes, cover their ears, and scream, ?LA, LA, LA, LA, LA! I CAN?T HEAR YOU! LA, LA, LA, LA, LA!? like spoiled little brats? The managers of Hyperion signed a contract that specified a very specific amount of money. They are now refusing to abide by an agreement that they knowingly signed. Where?s the moral high ground in that? They have broken a promise documented in writing and witnessed to and attested by lawyers. So many are quite willing to throw the ?broken promises? grenade at Amiga, Inc. Why is it that Hyperion gets to skate when they have done EXACTLY that?WITH lawyers involved?

@joerg So, are we to assume that this "other" filesystem is non-amiga, or NDA? How is the >4GB support for filesystems like EXT2/3 for example? Could that be ported over to Amiga for native use?

So, what you're talking about is really like running two OS's at once on the same machine, with one acting as "overseer", so to speak.

As I said, large file support is already in, as you would know if you had any idea what you are talking about.
You know pretty little about AmigaOS obviously if you think you can build in all-out memory protection into it - this is not possible in the current incarnation, and it will need to move to an incompatible API at one point to achieve this. That will happen, mind you, but not just now. I know pretty little about it, too. It?s been quite a while since I read your OS4 reports in Club Amiga Magazine. Am I following the wrong course when I think that this has to do with the OS being single user versus multi-user?

@Helge
First of all, let me say that I think that this case is going to go for a while---a rather uncomfortably long while. I'm not certain that "2007" hardware will still be a relevant term by then.
If Hyperion and the contracted developers give over the source code in short order, then things can progress the more quickly, otherwise, Amiga will have to start all over from scratch---yet again---and get accused of breaking promises---yet again.
Assuming that those who "lose" the case dig down deep in the long-ignored dark corner of that long-unused room and find that spirit of cooperation that they have so long neglected, things will work out just fine, but if they and their followers keep acting like spoiled temper-tantrum-throwing little children, then we are indeed doomed.
