Strange? All modern PCI systems work at 3.3v. in fact PCI 2.3 and 3.0 are 3.3v ONLY, so the slot is fully PCI compliant, any PCI 2.2 card should work. Having said that, I don't understand why the PCI slot doesn't support 5V. I have asked on forums once or twice but haven't had responses. You see, the 33Mhz slot(s) are on the downstream port of the pericom 8150B a chip which is 5V tollerant. Quote:

There may be some confusion here, there are two possible configurations you can run the board in: Option 1: 1 x PCI-e 4x (16 x slot) 1 x PCI 2.3 1 x PCI-e 1x Option 2: 1 x PCI-e 4x (16 x slot) 1 x PCI 2.3 1 x SATA2 slot. To get extra SATA ports you seem to have 3 choices: 1 PCI SATA card 2 PCI-e SATA card 3 SATA2 port splitter. Regards Darren

3.3v PCI on 440flex is annoying, try finding a low-profile Radeon (other than bog standard 7000) to fit a low-profile case that's also 3.3v, I managed to find a low-profile 9250 in the end but had to ship in from Germany and was pricey, Also missing out on the 256MB cards (which all seem to be 5v) is a shame.
Errr.. where did you get this idea? You obviously don't know any Mediator owners. We have radeon 9200 drivers now, but as most Mediators are 5V only almost all radeons fail to work. Why? The Radeon 9200 chip runs off of a 3.3v power supply, but is 5v tollerant. To work correctly in a 5v slot the card needs a 5v to 3.3v regulator, which most cards don't have. Regards Darren

I haven't found any new USB files in update 2, so I don't see why it would work any differently. Having said that, I have been having trouble with my wireless USB Kbd/mouse. The mouse pointer would freeze, but would still move when my PS2 mouse was moved. This looked, at first like a USB problem, however it seem to have been a loose power connection to one of my HDD's! Since I've fixed that all is working well. (So far anyway) Might be worth checking there isn't a hardware problem somewhere else in your system. Regards Darren

Yes, the PC printer driver generates the output, all the script does is send it to the printer. Using PAR: sends raw data directly to the printer(*), PRT: will feed data through the Amigas printer driver. With this script it should be possible for your PC to print to a printer you don't have an Amiga printer driver for! This was possible with LPx (comm/misc I think) I'm not sure if it works under 4.0 as it uses ARexx, and I haven't tried it. Quote: A step-by-step guide would be nice

What model number is it? Is it a WG602? if so that should work fine. The 802.11n AP's don't yet have client mode - this comes in a firmware update soon. This would all be much easier if there was a 802.11g pci card available for OS4.0... Leave some details here. Regards Darren

Access points are ment to allow wireless clients to connect to a wired network, so this will probably be a problem with any WAP. However there may be hope, you may be able to put the router and AP into bridge mode, but this may not be in the firmware for your AP. Bridge mode is for connecting two wired networks via wireless. Have a good read of your manual. Good luck Darren

Any chipset will do. For me being an SE Owner I can't use the VIA UHCI device at all - the machine hangs during startup if I leave it enabled in the Kicklayout. So I use a NEC 5 port PCI card, via ohci.usbhcd. This seems to be the type of card most people choose. Also some things to add to the list that work with update 1 that didn't before. OS4.1 Keymap editing

Hello all,
In preparation for Update 1 and its improved USB, (Which I can't download as Hyperion is down) I've been giving my mini PC USB keyboard a try, but I've come across a problem. This kbd has the American type layout with a small CR key and a large #/~ (*) on the row above. I can't seem to find a key map that will allow me to type these. All the other keys produce the right character (even ?) just not that one. Not good for programming. I was going to edit the keymap, but the editors I try won't load OS4.1 keymaps. I see some other OS4 keymaps on aminet, so how are people creating these?
Thanks Darren
(*) I had to pull my PS2 keyboard out just to type these!

OS3.9 woes

Hi All,
I had a small problem the other night and something overwrote some blocks on my OS3.9 system partition. After searching for a boot floppy I've managed to get the system back to a working state except:
The size of the bottom border on my WB windows has changed, it used to be the same size as the side ones, now it's smaller.
I'm sure I've lost the most up to date version of setpatch, and I can't remember where they are kept.
Anyone got suggestions on how I can my system back to normal?
Regards Darren

This would be very nice, an extra PCI slot for a CatWeasel.
That thread does not seem to specifically answer the question of " can it boot from drives attached to it?". I have an XE.
Thanks for the info. Chris
Well from a close look at the pictures and specs, it seems to be a NEC USB controller chip and a Silicon Image SATA chip on the same card. OS4 has drivers for both of these, and UBoot has drivers for SI3112 and SI3512 SATA controllers. If it is one of those you are in luck! You could ask around if there is someone who has one. I Have noticed that you can only use 1 HDD internally as the second port is external (as a eSATA) Regards Darren

[/quote] Surely for a USB 2.0 it would need to be an ehci.device?, as ohci/uhci only control the ports at 12Mb/s . I do hope that the problems that cause most of my USB devices to hang the system were fixed before starting work on the 2.0 drivers, this would be much more useful (to me) Regards Darren

Hi All,
I've got a PDF file I need for a project on my A1, however the last page is in a font called 'MSPGothic' I found this is supplied with vista, so out came the memory stick that works with my A1 and I copied over a 9Meg file called 'msgothic.ttc'
Typemanager recognised this straight away, and installed 3 different fonts, however I still can't get AmiPDF to display my PDF file. I've tried several settings in the settings/font map and settings/font dir pages but no luck. anyone got any ideas?
Regards Darren
