Re: USB under OS4 classic

Thanks

It works this way and I am online :)

But on the next reboot the system tries to recognize the usbasixeth.device with no success so I take a NetWork Log Error message that the device can not be found. The most common case is that the system searches for the file on the /Devs/Networks Folder.

On the prefs/internet setting utility the path is matched as Devs/NetWorks/usbasixeth.device and if I try to leave the filename alone without the path the application would not let me to continue.

I tried to open the related configure files manually and edit the setting (for example the file on NetInterfaces folder) but everywhere the usbasixeth.device would be mentioned without a path.

Poseidon is started in the first line of Startup Sequence and all the USB stuff still works fine. Trident notices the usbasixeth.device as active and running.

For now every time I want to be online under OS4 I have to set up a new Internet connection. Only this way the usbasixeth.device is recognized.

Any help?

Even an alternative TCIP/IP stack software would do the trick for me, -leaving behind the native OS4 TCP/IP stack-. But I can not find anyone. Genesis came pre installed in my 3.9 setup and I need the install files to re setup it on OS4. Can anyone helps with this? OR probably a verison of Maiami with those keyfiles?

Thanks for all the support.

I have installed Poseidon, REMed all USB stuff on kickstart-layout and startup-sequence, USB stuff still works but how the hell I am going to tell the TCP/IP stack of OS4 to use that usbasixeth.device? It is not located in the driver list not even in any folder. I know it is generated somewhere in RAM and I can see it on Trident, but how I am going to make OS4 recognizes it? Should I use an 68k TCP/IP stack instead?
Will Genesis do the trick?

Yes I have already found that usbasixeth.device is generated in memory. Will try to run Poseidon under OS4 and check out the similar thread you have suggested and see if I can have any success.

EDIT: The Deneb works with the USB stack of OS4, as I tested some USB devices. At first I thought I got to install Poseidon or something. So the point is how to make the Amiga go online via the USB 2 Eth adapter. I got to find the usbasixeth.device file and make the wizard co operate with it.

USB under OS4 classic
Just popping in

Resized Image

This is the new baby on the family. An Amiga 4000PPC with CyberStorm PPC, Picasso IV, Paloma TV Card, DVD RW, Deneb USB Card and a USB 2 Ethernet adapter to access the Internet.

Deneb and USB 2 Eth adapter work fine on 3.9 and MorphOS. What about OS4 classic? How do I make it work with the Deneb card?

And what about the USB 2 EtherNet adapter? It needs the usbasixeth.device to work under 3.9 and MorphOS. Will this work under OS4? I am trying to get access to the file to test it with the OS4 Internet wizard but (yes ok it sound silly) I simply can not find. It is not stored in any devs folder even not on the Denneb FlashROM -using Luciferin to access it-. Any idea from where the hell I can copy this file?

Any general instructions of to use Deneb under OS4?

Anyone who has made a USB 2 Eth adapter work?

Sorry for the big post.

Do not know if this only a problem of mine but in all platforms I run OWB -A1,Sam,Peg2- it would not let me copy and paste urls from and to the OWB url bar.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but it is really something that should be fixed.

Re: Strange IDE problem

Ok I tried something sdimple and it worked. Those read / write messages made me thought that the test probably searches for a media into the DVD-RW drive. Placing a DVD into it makes the test to be completed.

As far as the crushes there was no response for the keyboard after the -failed- first test -and this would happend to any "press any key request" by the diagnostic programm- due to the fact that I use a USB to PS2 adaptor to connect my... mouse...! If I place the mouse straight to the USB port then it the machine is not crushing. In any case all the diagnostic tests went well.

Thanks very much for your posts. It was somehting simple after all. But through cases like this I am learning more stuff about my AmigaOne and realise how much etxra care does it need!.

Re: Strange IDE problem

I did not reset the computer before the validation finished. I click retry on repeat ending in the AmigaDOS prompt.

I run the PartitionWizard, tested all the partitions and all seem to be ok. I also made a repair just for the case, no prbs again.

Only on the Uboot Diagnostics iI get this message on the IDE test:

Quote:

Write test is disabled
Read succes --> 0

Write test is disabled
Read succes --> 0

Write test is disabled
Read succes --> 0

Write test is disabled
Read succes --> 0

IDE Test failed! Press any key to continue....

If I run it from the UBoot prompt via the "post Idetest command" it does not crush. If I run the diagnostics selection form the UBoot menu then the system crushes.

This is the only thing thta makes me anxious, except that the machine works fine. I am posting from it right now.

[SOLVED] Strange IDE problem
Just popping in
Just popping in

The last time I opened my A1, OS 4,1 reported an error on boot that the drive System: is not validated. Somehting that to my limited knowlege means that the OS was unable to recognise this partition.

Have not done anything strange and the machine was shutted down normally before this.

I hard reseted the A1 and reboot and now the OS booted normally and all my partitions worked fine.

But running the diagnostics from UBoot it crushed on the IDE Test showing a message "IDE Test Failed. Press Any Key To Continue..." and then the system goes on crush.

Before someone points this, I have changed mobo battery and have the mahcine cooled perfectly with three fans on the tower which is located next to an air condition device for fresh cool air all the time.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What a wonderfull welcome! thank you all for your posts guys! And more over thank you for your support and help, and thanks NPanag as well, you are THE man!!!!

Well I guess that if I put all my systems in the signature, it will get too big. I have included all those that run AmigaOS 4.1 to be in the mood of the site.

Case CatWeasel: Still has not tested 100% I guess that I have to grab those Alpha / Beta drivers for the 4.1. At least I got the drive working native. I will send a re;uest to the guy that creates those drivers and get back to you all after my test.

Thanks!

I am already in the club of Amiga owning Pegasos2, Sam, Efika, tones of classics (incl a 4000PPC and a 1200PPC that I am currently building) plus CDTV and CD32 but I guess A1 together with Peg2 are the tops of my collection!!!

EDIT: Hey do I need to reach a number of posts to be able to change my signature? I am trying to attach some of my system's specs in there but I get an error message that I do not have the rights...

Re: AmigaOne Questions

Can anybody please answer to npanag's questions.

It seems that we got similar -if not the same- problems.

What is the current / correct method to connect the floppy with the Catweasel? Is there any way to test if it works under 4.1?

Is it possible for a floppy drive connected to cat to work as a native floppy drive under Amiga OS 4.1? I am not referring to read and write classic 68k Amiga Disks but to format, read and write disks under OS 4.1 for straight usage. For example to copy an image file to formatted floppy disk under OS 4.1. This disk will be later accessed by OS 4.1 under AmigaOne.

And what about classic Amiga Disks? Is there any way to access em under A1 / Os 4.1??? Are those beta / Alpha drivers available anywhere for test?

And yes I am still anxious about that Hyperion Update... Is it important to make it?
