@A1200 I had to go down the larger Power supply Route for my CD32. However, I was a bit creative and added a pot inside on the fan. Its not silent, but is quieter than the fan in my XE. http://amigans.net/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=102

@MikeB Quote: Linux on the PS3 can already mount the Blu-Ray drive, some people have exploited this feature by illegally dumping Blu-Ray content using their PS3.
Linux is one thing OS4 is another. How much linux stuff is out there than can benefit OS4 but hasn't yet. Just cos come linux guys have done it doesnt mean OS4 will. Have you thougt about the implications of the commercial game market for OS4. I see there being no need for OS4 titles when you can just boot PS3 ones. -edit- formatting

@Oppressor Quote: Oppressor wrote: I'm not sure if I would want to buy a PS3 just for the sake of OS4. OS4 is unlikely to profit from the PS3, as the PS3 is an extremely controlled and hostile environment, like everything coming from Sony. Access to the more interesting parts of the hardware (besides the Cell) may turn out to be limited, if not nonexistent.
If hyperion were to sign up as PS3 developers, after all they are a games company, do you think they would get access to the hardware reference docs then. But would this mean that OS4 would have to be published by Sony in the same way games are.

@A1200
1989 for me. A500 with an A501, shipped with KS1.3 but 1.2 floppies. I had to buy the WB enhancer package to get the 1.3 Floppies.
Can't help but feel i was duped by the dealer now, but hey I was new to Amiga and didn't know much about them then appart from what I had been reading in ZAP64.

Radeon 9100 and 8500 are the same card. Its doubtful that there will be a 'working' 3D driver from Hyperion.
As for the 9250 I'm sure there are models upto 240/400Mhz... Oh well must be mistaken.

9250 i think
If you want to go faster you can always take the card out of the machine, plug it in a PC and Overclock it.
Eg: Radeon 9550 is a cut down 9600.
You can reflash the 9550 in the pc with a 9600 bios and it will run faster, or use of the utilities that allow you to bump the speed 1Mhz at a time until you get glitches, then knock it back a few Mhz

@MikeB
That site doesn't mention that the PS2 compatability will be cripled in the European Version due to sony removing the PS2 Emotion Engine from the board. I know its got nothing to do with OS4 but its an important factor to mention for European consumers to consider when comtemplating a PS3 purchase.
That one reason I won't be jumping on the PS3 wagon yet.
Another reason Europe seems to be the place where sony can take the 'mick' with prices. A quick google and putting the numbers into xe.com shows it ?50-?80 cheaper in the US for the 60GB version than the GB launch price.
As for OS4 I'd love to see it on the PS3, but it gotta be crash proof and the reaper would need replacing with something more consumer friendly. Ditch Backwards compatibility and run all legacy apps through a integrated UAE sandbox. If OS4 goes in sale in supermarkets, you might have a hard time convinsing Dave from down the road the grimreaper is a good thing. 5 reboots of his console and hes taking OS4 back to the store for a refund.

@orgin I don't think anyone knows much about Jens project outside his thoughts about where he could take the hardware in the recent TA article. As for Dennis and minimig he has been speaking this month about minimig in the minimig thread at amiga.org http://www.amiga.org/modules/newbb/vi ... hp?topic_id=27988&forum=8In which he links to this site http://commodore-gg.hobby.nl/feb2007col1.htmwhich has some photos of recent deveopments. Must say minimig is looking sweet and highly polished now.
