Minor itch: Screen switching and active windows

Is there anyway to make WB 'remember' the active window per screen? When I switch screens I need to click the window that was previously active on that screen each time I do a switch which is a bit annoying. Using the AutoPoint commodity I can sort of get what I want, but then I have to live with the constant change of focus when I move the mouse which is also a bit annoying And it only works if I'm just running full screen applications or leave the mouse alone completely otherwise I might activate random windows when switching screens.

@ktadd Quote: 6. Can not "Jump to Screen" with MUI Applications. Drop down menu item disabled. (MUI version 5.0-2020R3) Calculator reaction program works fine. It seems it's only the menu that's broken. The actual functionality works if you enable the 'screen jump button' under 'Windows' in MUI prefs. I have the same problem, I just didn't realize that it shouldn't be like that.

@kas1e Quote: It is also available: 8.3.0. I use it for a year and build all the stuff with it => no problems. I looked into adtools and did a test hit to get a grip on how to work with it. I bumped gcc to version 9.1 as a test. You can find a build here: https://github.com/sodero/adtools/releasesNeedless to say, it might kill you, use at your own risk. I did a test build with Vim and it seems alright but you'll never know. I'm particularily worried about the c++ parts (had to use the axe in libstdc++), but C should work. If it works, I might try another bump or two. And create a PR for the main repo of course.

@kas1e Nice, I should have though of that. I'm using Marlon Beijers Docker image with 8.3 for cross-compiling, a very neat solution. I wouldn't mind having an SDK_Balbalba.lha though

Ah, I missed that. Better than nothing, but what I'm really after is a recent version of gcc.

I think I'll keep running the latest kernel for now since it seems to work for my (narrow) use cases. And someone needs to be a guinea pig anyway :)
About Amidock and emptiness, I like it when it's not to cluttered. I don't even want to know what time it is.
Hats of to BITbyBIT software BTW, their SDK browser is a killer app. Do you know if we can expect an updated SDK anytime soon?

@kas1e Quote: If you have Radeon RX you may have hard times: there no RadeonRX lite driver in the OS4. So you need to modify install ISO to add Radeon RX driver + add kick layout line.
If RadeonHD, then all fine, you will have a lite driver (limited to 1024x768), which you can replace just by copying RadeonHD 3.7 driver over old lite on in sys: kickstart/ and reboot (then screen mode, check 1920x1080 here, if not, choose "detect automatically" or add mode manually, all in screen mode prefs).
After that warp3dnova, warp3d SI (for old warp3d/minilg, not part of Enhancer), and ogles2.library, and so on. Thanks for your advice. Got everything up and running with just the bare minimum from the Enhancer pack. Ended up in a moment 22 due to my graphics card (my modified install ISO turned out to be crap), but luckily I had an older one laying around that I could use to boot up FE without the Enhancer drivers. Other than that it was smooth sailing and everything seems rock solid so far. What I really wanted to say was thanks to all involved in this update. And thanks for OWB b7. Overall OS4 and X5000 is a really nice kit.

Thanks alot! I'll start with a clean install + graphics drivers and then I'll be very picky about what I cherry-pick.

@kas1e Fantastic, very nice surprise. I just got my X5000 up and running today and now this I'm still a bit confused by how the enhancer pack fits into the picture though. Is there anything in the enhancer pack that adds value / doesn't break things? Can I trust the enhancer pack installer for cherry-picking or do I need to do this manually?

Indeed, the Sourceforge link pointed to the wrong release for some reason. I don't know why. It could be because I messed around deleting tags a.s.o. Nevertheless, great that it works for you. MUI tabs next, it won't be next week though :)

@kas1e 2148 is definitely the right one. Are you sure that you're not running the old one by mistake? What does it say if you go <esc>:version? I need to double check that the 8.2.2148 archive really is what it says it is. I tested it on a vanilla 4.1FE configuration. Are you using something else?

Finally tabs are working. It was a bit more work than I expected. I haven't done the MUI tabs yet though but this is a good start. You can find a build on GitHub, it's also in the Aminet upload queue.

@kas1e The MUI part is straight forward. The challenge is Vim itself

Ok, it could be that I need to implement tabs as well to make this work as expected. I'm going back into the dark pits of the Win32 GUI to try to understand how this is supposed to work.

Yep, it works as expected (in the desired way that you described above) on Windows. I'll do some digging.

@kas1e Thanks for reporting this! I haven't noticed this since I never use tabs. I'll look into it. It's not the MUI part that decides what to show / hide. The behavior is a bit strange though, I must make sure that the GUI 'obeys' orders. I'll compare with gvim on some other platform and see what I come up with. If it works for them it should work for us

@trixie Finally, scrollbars. There's no end to the number of scrollbars if you do a lot of window splitting. It's probably the most scrollbar intensive application on Amiga The vertical ones are enabled by default. If you'd like an horizontal one as well enter 'set go+=b' (or use the menu, but that's not very vimmy). A test build can be found here: https://github.com/sodero/MUI-Vim/releases/tag/8.2.2121Still some AROS/Zune quirks to sort out before it ends up on Aminet. Seems to work great on OS4 though.
