@Amigo1

Is this 3rd partition the one giving trouble? and is this partition also occupying the last group of cylinders? Try decreasing the amount by one? Sometimes quirky situations require illogical procedures

Perhaps when you read in the manufacturers settings you could calculate new ones? I used to do it all the time but I couldn't tell you how to do it now LOL

Is the block size 512? probably default but who knows.

Perhaps partition it all again but don't set the two other partitions yet (as in don't save it so it survives reboot) but only this problem partition...

There's heaps of things to do that are whacked LOL but I've forgotten alot of stuff since moving to the SAM units...

Good Luck

Perhaps Thomas utility solved it all anyway

@Amigo1

If I recall one of the digits in the identifer box was incorrect in one of the releases? check this and try installing it on this particular partition again?

I can't recall exactly what it was... of course, it might also be unrelated

@drHirudo

That's interesting perhaps resolution has something to do with it?

with the 2 I tried I just get a coloured screen and some resolution adjustments over a time then a frozen screen

Also most of my partitions are JX which might have some bearing on the matter?

@Deniil

Didn't get around to trying that size adjustment, will do it tonight

[edit] works fine! thankya kindly!

@salass00

And I strongly agree with forgetting about backwards compatiability... personally I've never understood it...

Alot of Retro users don't give one stuff about the modern hardware or OS4.x so I say it's time to forget about that sector, they can support themselves!

I have ALOT of older Amiga machines do you see me saying please let me run OWB on it? Retro developers that aren't interested in OS4.x can do there thing where as people who do code for OS4.x should give it priority...

This is happening now, so lets keep pushing it along, once I start coding I know where I'll be heading

@salass00

I used to compile this * distribution and it used to work except back in those days we didn't have a filesystem that could handle large files and for some reason the largest file I could burn was 1.6gig though it did actually work...

I compiled so many versions in my endevours to find one that worked that I can quite good at it LOL... it was a long time ago now though and I believe the bottom files are the last ones I ever tried...

There are Amiga definitions inside...

Large File Support is inside the source you just need to -DUSE_LARGE_FILE_SUPPORT or similair, it was a while ago

Programs needing Large File Support
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hi All

Guess I should have created this thread ages ago... Just hoping there is enough interest and enough time for the software developers to look at this aspect of there software.

Personally (since I can't think of anything else at the moment that I'd use)

I'd like to see LARGE_FILE_SUPPORT given to these two programs:

AmiDVD (is this even possible?)
MPlayer (can't play movie files over 2147483647)

The other curious thing that's come about through my exploration of options is Join Splitter v1.4 by Deniil 715 doesn't allow 2147483647 as a vaild option to split... I was hoping it would create one file of 2147483647 namely file.01 and the small amount left over would be file.02 etc

This program has got support for large files (since you can split something larger than 2147483647 into valid seperate files) but I guess it's just missing an option catering to my desired outcome perhaps he could include an option as 'Biggest possible' with remainer as next file...

food for thought

comments?

Playlist Display Corruption
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hi all

Using Tunenet Alpha on SAM Flex 800mhz 1gM OS4.1 ud2

Using the flac plugin to just play flac's curiously enough

As the selection of songs is played through random display corruption appears in the Track window mostly... and it changes in the various lines each time a new song begins...

The type seems ok inseting FLAC as it progresses same at the Pos just 1 2 3 etc...

Time is also unaffected... is it a known thing and would going back to an earlier version fix this in the meantime?

cheers

edit:

meant to add this is in the default 'SkinFX' display, the full deal? I've since changed to standard and there is no corruption...

Re: A 4000 + GVP A4060 (TREX II) startproblems

@Wilfred

Greetings

As for problem 1) I had a similair problem but it required more than 1 reset to get it going... It seems to have to do with the problems associated with age... when you turn off your machine off via the button also turn it off at the wall. Then turn the button on yu machine on again... it won't power up since its turned off at the wall but it will allow static electricity built up in the boards resistors and similair to dissipate... just remember to turn this off again when you go to turn you machine on again... see if it works for you? If it does your machine should boot right through first time...

Makes you wonder in your case at least whether its worth all the hassle if yours boots after one reset... the other more obvious thing is perhaps the system isn't waiting for your harddrives to spin up and goes past the point where the actual harddrive can boot...

As for problem 2) Obviously the loaded modules aren't surviving a reset... you don't have any other strange reset proof software running in the startup as well? Could it be an incompatiable setpatch? Perhaps remove everything except the loading of the kickstart modules?

There are so many variables that really can only be solved by trial and error or exact knowledge of this exact situation... good luck

One last thing I recall is a file in devs I believe NSDPatch.cfg... it's a text file with setting for most boards etc... Setpatch can even disable running this file with a command syntax... I just used to rename it by putting a . at the start of the name then setpatch couldn't find it to execute it... had a look in devs or l for the file and load it up in cygnused or notepad if we must and search for gvp etc,,, maybe your board needs to have the # removed from the start of the line to activate the written settings etc...

MPlayer was compiled without libdvdread support.

I thought perhaps MEncoder was trying to find MPlayer but didn't know the path to the executable... I CD to the MPlayer dir and tried again... same result... unless it needs some /bin or similair hardcoded place for MPlayer I suppose I'm way off the track and MEncoder isn't trying to call MPlayer at all and it's a typo and the last error line should be MEncoder and not MPlayer

How did I get roped into this anyway

Re: How to join .avi files with mencoder

I wouldn't use the -idx option unless you are trying to join 2 avis from different sources... it can actually muck things up... I think perhaps it rebuilds the index even if it finds one or it's just a problem with some wmv formats...

I use it on some formats that don't have a normal index built in of which escapes me at the moment...

I created a thread quite some time ago looking at compiling a few useful things to know... I believe I had kicked it off with a few options for MPlayer

Someone should make that sticky and perhaps add this mencoder string to it? I've had the string for ages and it sits in the C: directory as mencoder.txt so I type c:mencoder.txt to refresh my mind at times

Here is the full snippet in my txt file for your viewing pleasure

Quote:

Here's how to merge several video files into a signle one with Mencoder.

It's pretty easy, here it is:

mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -idx -o output.avi video1.avi video2.avi video3.avi

The -oac copy option tells mencoder to just copy the audio stream (no reencoding). -ovc copy does the same with the video stream.
The -idx option asks mencoder to build the index if none was found. This makes searching inside the video easier.
-o stands for "output" and specifies the output file.
The last few parameters are the input video files.

You can join as many files as you like. This will work for videos of the same resolution, and using the same codec, but any video format that mencoder recognizes is fine.

Very nice! & Very Useful!

First thing that comes to mind of course is an DirOpus module? As it stands now you can double click on archives and copy from it etc but you can't view pictures from within an archive etc...

I see intergration written all over this in some form or another

I mean of course you can have you GUI from WB etc... this is just a handy limited application we are talking about!

Re: Adding *.7z archives support to os4depot ?

I guess what I said was too vague

Didn't we touch on a problem regarding this archiver some months ago in that it needs to expand it's whole image in memory before writing it or even worse?

That is why I had references to iso images, especially ones that haven't been compressed by the iso software first... maybe this isn't much of a concern because most of the stuff won't be on an iso LOL

but it's a concern none the less

It doesn't worry me too much anymore since I'll have at least 1 gig of memory from now on... I do recall though while I had a SWAP partition and only 512 Megs on my 667 it took some time to uncompress and write a 700k iso cdrom file
