Re: OWB source repository

Does the Amiga port of OWB have a project page and/or source repository page?
Except for the binaries on my homepage there is no specific AmigaOS4 OWB page, the OWB Blastoise AmigaOS4 changes (but not completely up to date) are in tickets on the Sand-Labs OWB Trac, for OWB Doduo the AmigaOS4 parts will be included in the SVN when it's completed.

I've successfully built OWB Doduo for AmigaOS4 already, but just with the minimal required changes to get it working at all (using SDL and libfreetype, i.e. no tool bar, AmigaOS4 font implementation, events, window, etc. yet) and I've just started porting it to AmigaOS4.

Here is a similar website that causes OWB to crash.
Although the main site doesn't crash with OWB Blastoise on Linux for example http://demo.silverstripe.com/admin/ crashes on Linux as well. It works with OWB Doduo (on Linux, I did't manage to build a working AmigaOS4 executable yet).

Could we get English language donation sites? The OWB site seems to be in German.
The default used to be the language the paypal account is configured to and my account is still set to english, no idea when paypal changed that. It's not possible to select a default language when creating paypal buttons, only a default country. I've created a new button with no default country selected, if that doesn't work either I'll have to set the default country for example to USA.
I can't test it since since german is correct in my case, but even if it doesn't work you can enter the amount and click on "Summe neu berechnen" (update sum) and after that select the country which changes the language of the page as well. Changing the country/language before entering the amount isn't possible

That sits says, the planned milestone for DoDuo is 15th June, so I would think we have a few days to wait.
More likely a few weeks. I have access to the Doduo pre-release sources since Monday, built the new libs required and managed to build an executable on OS4 already (which just crashes on start ), but a lot changed and I have to port all AmigaOS4 parts to the new Doduo OWBAL.

I don't think releasing AmigaOS4 Doduo betas (first using SDL, without tool bar, embedded or freetype instead of AmigaOS4 fonts, etc.) and updates with just some parts ported or added, like with Blastoise, would make much sense, it's probably better to only release it when the port is completed (at the same level as the Blastoise port at least), but that will take some time.

The NatAmi60 is fast, very fast, very, very, very fast!!!
No, even compared to running UEA on the cheapest x86 PC you can buy it will be very slow.

Quote:
With the proposed 68070 FPGA without an MMU, it'll be faster still!
Are they gone completely mad now? The 68070 was a special m68k CPU used in the CD-i, IIRC it was a modified 68010, i.e. not only a MMU but a FPU is missing as well.

Quote:
So, what are the reasons that Hyperion could not recompile AOS4.x to 68K?
OS4 can't work without MMU
Even a 500 MHz 68060 would be way too slow for a PPC emulator, and without the possibility to run OS4 PPC software a m68k version of OS4 would be next to useless.

P.P.S. Any AOS4.x developers getting a NatAmi60?

I tried disabling the WBStartUp and everything works ok... so, it looks like a problem with AmiDock? Hence I make a backup copy and delete it. Or at least I try to. Deleting AmiDock.info locks the system solid (and doesn't delete the file).

Reboot no Startup-sequence. Delete AmiDock#?... hangs solid on AmiDock.info.

Everything I do with AmiDock.info hangs the system solid.

When I get home I'll try to delete AmiDock itself, but I don't want to have to! What's wrong with it? The filesystem should never hang solid on trying to delete a file. It even did so under 3.9 (I dual-boot my system).
It could be the device driver as well which hangs and not SFS.

Quote:
How do I fix this? This is running the latest (AFAIK) SFS filesystem.
There is no repair tool for SFS, you have to reformat the partition and restore a backup. But first please use "Check" in PartitionWizard with ToolType LOGFILE=ram:pw.log on AmigaOS4, or SFSCheck on AmigaOS 3.x, on the partition and send me the output. But if it's the device driver, or even the HD itself, which hangs it will very likely happen with PartitionWizard and SFSCheck as well.

Is that really a problem? It still ends up in the same PayPal account.
But in most cases not the same amount,?for example if someone from an Euro country would send me a donation via AmiFund PayPal would deduct about 5% of it as fees for the useless EUR -> USD -> EUR currency conversations. In all other cases, except for donations from the USA or other countries using USD, the currency conversations fees would be about 5% (currency of the sender -> USD -> EUR) instead of 2.5% (currency of the sender -> EUR).

They even want to recreate the 68030, and make it virtually 100% 68000 compatible, with FPU and no MMU, due to the MMU actually slowing down AOS1 through 3.9 simply by being there, and NOT being used.
Nonsense. There is a minimal slowdown you aren't able to notice only if it's used, and only if it does much more than the kickstart ROM mapping which is all AmigaOS 3.x itself used it for (if you use "CPU FASTROM").

Quote:
How dedicated is that?
Sounds more like clueless, and that they don't even have any idea yet what they want to create ...

First they are seriously thinking about using an incompatible?CPU which is way to slow for running a m68k emulator (ColdFire), and now they want to create a system you can't use for developing software because you can't even use the simplest debugging tools like enforcer?

Go to intellicast.com, enter "liverpool,uk" in the Local Weather search box near the top.
Although it works with the Linux version of OWB it's not something in the AmigaOS4 parts which causes the crash, for example if I change the User-Agent in the OS4 OWB to the one used by the Linux version it doesn't crash but instead there is an endless loop somewhere, OWB doesn't react any more and even a warm reboot doesn't work. Seems to be one of the many memory trashing bugs of WebKit

Fixable or is there some workaround with special keys :)
I don't know what the problem is since I don't have a facebook account, but most of the problems in OWB aren't in the OWB parts but in the old version of WebKit it's using and should be fixed in the next OWB milestone ("Doduo") which will use a current version of WebKit.

On classic Amigas overlay is possible (i think so...) using MediatorPCI/Prometheus + Voodoo card.
Not only with a Voodoo card, it works with all gfx cards which support overlay, for example the Picasso IV as well. But the gfx chip used in the B/CVisionPPC doesn't have overlay support.

Btw. Do you happen to know if the ANSI file functions support 64-bit when using g++ straight off on OS4, or do I need to rewrite all that into OS4 dos.library??
No problem, just wondering...
The standard functions are 32 bit, to use 64 bit C library I/O you have to use 64 bit functions like fopen64(), ftello64(), fseeko64(), etc., which require a new SDK.

The V5 is built to the customers requirements, if you want ethernet and USB controllers, or your own logic on the same chip then you ask for it.
The logic will be fixed but it will also be a lot cheaper than starting out with a $100 FPGA.
It would be cheaper if you'd order such a custom CF5 CPU with SuperAGA included in high volumes, but is it really cheaper for a tiny batch for something like the NatAmi?

I downloaded the full package but I can't find direct scsi version of sfs anywhere... it was removed or ... ? I'd like to try to break that 4 GB limit...
My versions of SFS don't support direct-SCSI (HD_SCSICMD) since using it can cause problems, incl. beeing unable to boot at all any more for example with the old kickstart ROM IDE scsi.device, and using it can't fix anything NSDPatch doesn't as well in a much better way for old drivers.
To use HDs > 4 GB with AmigaOS 3.0/3.1 install NSDPatch, for AmigaOS 3.5/3.9 that's not required since NSDPatch is included in SetPatch.

Or get one of the old SFS versions from John (1.84, 1.58) which still supported using HD_SCSICMD, but if it doesn't work with my versions and NSDPatch they wont work either.
