@AmiGubbe Read this article. And the OS4 reviewed there is a very old version. OS4 is now faster (the 68k emulation for instance).

In other words, so far, it?s only hearsay.
I?d like to warn people about it, but without independent confirmation...

@samwel Quote: OS4 has got a very high performing 68k emulator which I guess easily out performs a 68020@14MHz even on a 604 +200Mhz PPC.
Actually, it outperforms 68060/50MHz on 604/200MHz most of the time and 68040/40 every time. So, if you have an expansion board with 68040/25MHz and any PPC processor, then the emulated software will be faster than the native 68k execution. However, OS4 and the JIT emulation requires more memory than OS3.x, theoretically it can run with 32 MB (without JIT emulator), but I would suggest 128MB. (When swapping will be ready then less memory will be enough, but then it will be significantly slower. Oh well, you can't have everything, I guess.)

Independently in sense other source? No... but I called PayPal and I was talking about an hour... about that and they didn't tell me that they don't support. They were very sorry that I'm going to use PayPal only in VERY special situations or even cancel...
So, you know if someone is without fault... will tell that... they didn't tell...
I have a lot of friends which order this list (check the website carefully for this kind of info, and google it, there is sooooo many websites Christian who trust this guys...
You can always call PayPal and ask :), talk to them that you are confused about that.
Consider that Ebay, PayPal, Skype is the same... :(...

@xeron Quote: OS3.9 can see all FFS and SFS partitions, but not FFS2.
Read Documentation/kernel/bootloader.txt. When it could not see it, it would be impossible to boot OS4 from an FFS2 partition...

The solution is for Amiga Inc and Hyperion to sort out the legal mess. Once that happens we will get new hardware and the OS to run on it.

(((((((((((((( Amiga's solution is an ea$Y one ))))))))) and it ain't nothing money cannot fix...
What made the Amiga great was stand alone machines boasting a different solution for users that don't do PC's or MACS Whats needed again is MONEY for a hardware system and a Software system uniquely genuine and Mostly built on the founding IDEAS...
Amiga was built on the goals that AMIGA ........ (( WAS JUST A BETTER CHOICE THAN THE OTHER 2 ))) A 3rd alternative to give folks a choice...
OS 4.0 is spiffy but seems dead locked... The Amiga one is a great attempt but failing in production... The emulators are just that... great attempts to hack the real thing but empty and hollow...
What the Amiga needs to do is come out kicking #### and not taking names... That and a (((billionaire financiers)) to buy up AMIGA INC & Hyperion's and the other dawgs who are sitting on Amiga's ASS.... SETS....moving at the speed of slowwwwww.... doing nothing very fast... and then combine the 2 divisions like commodore had at one time back into one united company...
Can this pipe dream happen I ask...
AGAIN TAINT NOTHING MONEY CANT FIX :(
Can I borrow a couple billion should be enough to pay all the folks off who are being sticks in the mud and get these doggies rolling again!!! and build a small streamlined factory of engineers and developers to bring PC's to their knees and those red hatters take notice..
:)
By the way where I am at now they dont allow me to use or have long cords or sharp objects so I am dictating this all to the guards...

Hello All!
Since I was informed that I can ask here about linux... I'm asking :).
I tried to install Suse 10.4, Debian 4 (no lack CD after loading kernel not detected :(, LAN installation didn't work to...)
I tried Ubuntu and... I installed it :), but my Radeon was not detected... I couldn't set 1440x900 (after 3 days of fight I gave up...). I installed ATI drivers :), no lack. The Beryl newer work for me.
So as you see I'm really at the beginning of my "trip".
Any ideas? HELP!! :D.
My config:
Gigabyte GA G33M-DS2R, with e4300, Radeon 1950xt, Sound Blaster XFi Music The rest is memory, and HDD and CD-RW :)
I think is to new ;).

I have a bunch of Amiga 500's and a 2000 hd and I am looking hard for a killer 1200 system I guess its more about what feels right to someone..
I personally feel like I am cheating Amiga by emulating it.. Like lifting/stealing software one can do it but do you feel completely ok with the idea of it?
I know thats apples and oranges in comparison but still Amiga is Amiga not IBM PC EMULATED AMIGA.. like riding a HONDA and calling yourself a HARLEY LOVER/BIKER... Just not the same thing...

OS4 on my AmigaOne uses about 150 MB. That does not include all the different languages available, so assume that total is only for a single language.

Some did just that and they replaced the Oscillator, the result was that clock frequency on RAM bus increased and computer started crashing all over the place.
